sorry ontopic again..

The biggest animation here is 13 frames. I don't think you get good results with less frames. Sometimes you need empty frames just to get a better timing.

And as far as slavery goes, have you ever wondered how the slaves got to America in the first place?  This section of the wikipedia article is particularly telling, in that the African nations (you know, the kingdoms of Africa that were there before the Europeans) themselves would sell conquered tribes and captured people into slavery to the European merchants - who would take them to European colonies. Profit all around. :P It's only natural that southern land owners - acting exactly how they learned to from European monarchies and feudal tradition (which is where the "civilized" people of America came from) - would act in a "high class" fashion and continue their traditions that they so rightly deserved, in their mind anyway undoubtedly.

Yes, every culture has stereotypes of others. To paraphrase wikipedia, it's about categorization and self-esteem. It doesn't mean that it's true, or even that anyone believes it's true - even on a re-occurring basis. It's just people, being stupid, which seems to be what we do best. I suppose practice makes perfect.

That is the truth if people want to blame someone for slavery blame those who sold them, because if something is not for sale. People can not buy it plain and simple. Oh and contrary to what schools teach you . The civil war had nothing to do with slavery. Lincoln after violating and suspending the constitution of the united states. came up with the idea of being against slavery to keep england from siding with the south. Lincoln knew if victory sided with Davis and the south. The North definately would have lost the civil war. Lincoln forgot to tell her that he was a slave owner himself.

Everyone knows the American Civil War was about who could grow the largest and wackiest beard.

The Civil War was fought because The South wanted there Legal and Constitutional right to govern themselves, and Lincoln wanted to suppress their rights plain and simple.

CRAP! Trouble again! My relative's network just isn't working. The cord goes in, but nothing happens. Disabled every firewall, anti virus, etc; Completely closed all processes related to them. Nothing. What gives? Anyone got a clue? I'm not too sure how their internet works. They don't seem to have a router, though there is a black box with four lights (which aren't labeled or anything) with a phone (?) cord running into a walll outlet. There's also the ethernet cord coming from that which was normally plugged into my relative's desktop, but I unplugged it and plugged it into mine.

The network isn't detected then, and nothing happens. Normally when the ethernet cable is plugged into my relative's desktop, there's three lights on the device, but when I plug it into my laptop, there's only two (showing no connection?) and there's no buttons or anything on the device. I'm good with technology, but when it comes to networking, I'm clueless!

I'm only here for ONE MORE DAY and have a few more important downloads to make, so PLEASE, PLEASE HELP!!!

no light, no contact. Maybe your network adapter is broken? Or the Cable quality is not good enough for your computer, or the router/switch or whatever you are connected to doesn't like to talk to your network adapter. its really hard to say whats wrong.

Try to use your relatives computer to download everything and connect yours into the localhome network too. If this doesn't work too, use an external drive to copy the data to your computer or burn a rewritable CD/DVD to get the data. Good luck ....

Yeah, I'm stuck just downloading on their computer. Fortunately I always carry my flash drive with me (even when i won't have computer access). I connected twice before (flawlessly on day 1, but after two hours of random messing around, then an hour of leaving my computer alone on day 2). My network card is fine (I think, really no way to know), the cable must be good, since it works well on my relative's computer, and as I said, it connected before.

Now I regred disconnecting it last night.

BTW: Is there any other methods of downloading the window's vista service packs? I downloaded service pack 1 yesterday (which screwed up my logon and UAC settings) but unless I can connect to the web, dunno how I can do it. Is there any way to download it on another computer and bring it into mine (EXE style?). Also, maybe I should update my network drivers. Except I can't connect. Ugh...

Anyone got any better idea of what went wrong?!? Google reveals that "works day one, doesn't day two" scenario's are rather common, but they usually have software from their ISP or something that helps (and of course, often end up buying something too).

A common issue is the IP lease. Try to release and renew on the new computer. I believe the "repair" option does this as well.

A second thought is that many routers have 5 female ethernet (RJ-45) slots, but you can't actually use all 5 at the same time. Usually one is the Uplink port (connects to broadband modem). Additionally, if you DO use the uplink port than the port directly adjacent to it will not work - the internal circuitry will prevent that. 4 max ethernet connections, even if one is your modem. Pay attention to the port it is in if you're regularly changing it physically.

IP leasing? What? As I said, no experience with networking, so you'll have to be a tad more descriptive I'm afraid...

Sorry I thought you knew Mr. Google :)

Imagine that you and your neighbor both have the same address and name. What's the mailman going to do with your mail?

Routers are like the mailman and they need an address for your computer. Routers set for DHCP (an automatic assignment method) will "lease" an IP to a computer (to the network adapter, technically, a computer could have more than one) for a specific period of time - a few days usually.
Since the IP is rented out, the router won't give it to another computer either. It seems obvious, but it's important. If the router runs out of IP addresses to give, your computer will not get "mail" due to the lack of an address.

The release command forces the network adapter to give up its address. The renew command makes it ask the router for a new IP address. If it's set up as a DHCP server, it'll assign a new, available one. They're done in that order just to ensure a fresh IP.

It's possible that all your computer swapping has caused one (the one with issues) to have an expired IP lease. The router only RESPONDS to DHCP requests, and the computer only sends them occasionally.

If this seems possible as the problem, google instructions for an network adapter's release and renew on your OS. Good luck

Well, my Dad takes two sets of Vitamins a day, if you're cheaper than where he currently buys them maybe he'll buy from you. But don't count on it.

EDIT: Just looked at the first site, I recommend menus that allow you to select what order you see the products.

I wish I could.  Unfortunately, the company gives me very few options of how to customize the site.  Basically I can only pick which product categories to have and choose between a couple different graphics, but it's free so I can't really complain.  I've been learning XHTML and CSS in one of my classes, so I would definitely make some alterations if it would let me, but it doesn't seem like there's a way to do it.  Eventually I might look into a site that gives me more freedom to do my own markup, like 110mb, but I've just got too many obligations right now.

A Totally Random Post:

You guys remember that 'Canadian Discussion' a little while back. Well, I realized I forgot the most important plus about Canada: We have the hotest girls in the world. Beat that.

On another note, I downloaded way to much software I think while at my relatives. Some of... questionable legality...  ;) However, the one that kept throwing my BSoD's was the andLinux program. Damn, I was hoping to try that. Oh well. Was a pain in the ass to get rid of. Must of reboot a dozen times trying to find out what went wrong (thank god for safe mode).

You may have the hotest girls, but there is no way you have the hottest girls.  Ever wonder why all the international models are american or european?

I dunno, I suspect there are quite a few supermodels that hail from Southern America (think Brazilian, for example).

You also have to remember that each culture prefers their own brand, as it were. You're less likely to notice a model from, say, Japan than one from Europe. Primarily because European culture is closer to American culture than Japanese.

True, but Southern America isn't canada.   :P

Does anybody have this pet peeve?
It is when someone posts a download and doesn't give a description or a picture?  I really wish people would post that stuff.

Edit:  I have thought about this for a while, and I think the reason why glest runs slow with only 30 units onscreen, is because glest has to smooth the frames between the animation frames.  I mean, the textures are small, the models low poly, the tileset low poly, small amounts of units, and not even a lot of computations going on as compared to other games.  What do you think?  And has anyone else ever thought of that?

I don't think animation would be a problem since interpolation can be done fairly efficiently with maths ??? Also Silnarm made a topic about improving rendering and didn't mention it. https://forum.megaglest.org/index.php?topic=4628.0 But we won't really know unless it is tested.
