Windows has the program advantage. Also, some MS programs do that verif check to make sure you have a legimate windows OS. Many games might not work on Linux, and WINE is not guarenteed to work. Windows is also the target for most software that modifies, and more. And I admit, I'm a sucker for the flashing lights and bells (eye candy) of windows Aero.

I am also pretty good at reducing my lag. While XP isn't bad, Vista does have some advantages. XP just happens to be more stable (but like I said, I haven't crashed for  a while). And why do you hit ctrl+alt+esc? I never have used that key code. Ever. If an app freezes, I give it a few seconds, then open task manager and shut down the process directly (just closing the app make lag). My biggest foe is IE, which crashes when trying to open some images (even with DEP [Data Execution Prevention] completely disabled). Then again, that IE, not vista.

Vista's biggest problem is too much security. If I could, I'd turn the entire security system off and let my custom antivirus and firewalls do their work. Another problem is DEP, which is a big cause of lag and crashes. Unfortunately, windows doesn't let you turn it off in any part of the UI. I googled until I found a command line function to permanently shut DEP down. For good. Best thing I ever did for Vista!
Linux has just as much if not more eye candy. Take a look at compiz or Enlightenment desktop system and even KDE 4 is quite stylish.

ctrl+alt+esc is in Linux distributions which allows you to force kill an application without waiting (might only be KDE, I'm not sure). If IE is anything like in XP it is tied into the operating system.

Have you used IE anytime lately? While doing website debugging, I ran into a horde of lags, memory leaks, and other crappy effects of IE. Its not reliable for offline work. Online, it is just SLOW. In fact, the slowest browser ever. I prefer Firefox and Google Chrome way better.

Glest runs slow because it renders the entire map all at once, including any particle systems you may not even see!  This is a necessary bug that needs to be fixed.

Then shouldn't it be in Bug Report?  Besides, you can't talk about Glest in the off topic!  :D

I did post it as a bug.  However, fixing the network seems to be more important to the coders of GAE, so that probably won't even be looked at until that is fixed.

Changing the topic of the off-topic (lol) I got an idea! Why don't we make a story for the world of glest? Like most of the Fantasy-like games, We have some basic races.
If anyone is interested please say it! I got some ideas already.

I do this too in MMORGPs, but I'm a more friendly player, who has never violated a TOS, and I don't call people noobs because we all are at one time...
Of course, that doesn't mean that I don't own!

I've tried a few different MMORPGs, but the only one I've ever really stuck with for very long is Atlantica Online.  I played Eudemons for a while, but there really wasn't much to do in that game except stomp bigger and bigger monsters, breed stronger and stronger pets, then everybody gets bored when they get to really high levels b/c there's nothing else to do, so they just run around PK'ing everyone else, which got annoying.  Talisman Online and Martial Heroes were okay, but I got bored with them pretty quickly too.  I think the big appeal of Atlantica is that there is a wide variety of things to do and there are lots of different kinds of mercenaries you can play around with.  Plus, the game encourages teamwork way more than the others I've played, and that's really a lot more fun than playing alone.

I like pretty much any game that has a great story and allows the player to do a lot of different things, like the Elder Scrolls series (Arena and Morrowind are awesome, but I can't get Oblivion to work on my computer :() and Knights of the Old Republic.  Some of my other favorites are the Legend of Zelda series, Goldeneye, Half-Life 2 (though it was way too short imo), Halo 2, Age of Mythology, and Medieval Total War (in fact, a few of the units from my mod are inspired by this game).  I also like Glest, but I spend way more time modding than playing, so I kinda suck at it. XD

When I'm not modding or playing games, I spend a lot of time at school and the gym, a bit too much time talking to strangers on Meebo, and as much time as possible rocking out at some sweet shows (my favorite band is playing three concerts all across Florida next month, so I'm pretty psyched). :)

in the legend of zelda who can tell me what i should do after i beat the 4th boss?
Beat the fifth one, of course. :P

I get bored of MMORPGs pretty quickly. I found http://www.valkyriesky.net/ehome/ interesting because it uses arcade style for the battling. Unfortunately it was only a beta and it hasn't reopened. The other one I played for a while was http://swordofthenewworld.gamersfirst.com/index.php . It has nice graphics and you control 3 characters instead of the usual 1. It's more interesting than most but still has a lot of grinding. My brother played http://vc.igg.com/main.php for quite a while.
