Imladris Forest - Elven Tileset ( Download Available )
« on: 21 February 2009, 09:23:47 »
Rivendell (Sindarin: Imladris) is an Elven outpost in Middle-earth, a fictional realm created by J. R. R. Tolkien. It was established and ruled by Elrond in the Second Age of Middle-earth (four or five thousand years before the events of The Lord of the Rings). In addition to Elrond and his family, notable Elves who lived there included Glorfindel and Erestor.
Rivendell is a direct translation or calque of the Sindarin name Imladris, both meaning "deep valley of the cleft".

Imladris is a tileset to go with my current elven faction.
It's going to have a lot of different trees and objects, no repeated objects from the original forest tileset.
here is a pic, itS kinda dark in the picture but in game it looks lighter.

Now I tested it

Looks good!
Its fun to make new tilesets isn't it?
You quickly get some nice results without all the trouble you have when you create factions.

Some of the models are too big(high).
Flying units will fly through the high trees for example. Probably you can shrink their height a bit.

For the water surface:
Try to make an animation with only 5 frames and do it like this
12345432
this will give you a smouth animation of 8 frames.
You should try to change the flowers color a bit, they look a bit unnatural this way.

It is a good tileset but I think you should rename this set for "elvish forest" or "old forest"

Actually, mediafire is pretty much standard for file-hosting for Glest mods.

Ok, I like it, Gameboy. Glad to see the 7z format too.

Water doesn't need a lot of frames though. I noticed it looks great if you just take the same picture and rotate it 90 degrees to make four pictures.  Worked for me at least. Simpler.
