Request: Volcanic Tileset
« on: 24 February 2009, 22:07:23 »
This would be very helpful in moving forward in the project at this topic.  The tileset's look is as if everything had just been burned, or as if everything was washed over with scorching lava.  Concept art:

Yes, but it only has to have a few models; this will have few trees and some rocks and red surfaces (and volcanoes! ;D)

Hmm, I always wanted to make a tileset...

Give me a description of all the objects and surfaces and I'll give it a good shot.

OK.  The theme of the tileset is that you are in hell, or the land has been hit by a volcano.  Never mind: better idea.  Dragon's lair.  There should be black rocks, a lava surface, and bones big and small of the things the dragon has eaten.

I like the tree on this one.

This one shows a good overview.

If that's not enough, let me know; I'll be glad to share more.

So, dead burnt up trees, rough rocks, scorched ground, bones, large rocks, water can be lava (fun to walk on ;-D), big rocks can be more like burnt out chunks, etc;

Ok, that'll be interesting. Not sure how long it'll take, but give me a little bit, I mean, with military and all...

I wouldn't mind helping out, tileset making is kinda fun I have to admit.
we'll divide the models I'll do half and you do half, that way it could happen faster.
tell which ones your doing
1) rocks
2) tree
3) objects
4) surfaces

waiting for the answer.

Sure, you can help out. Sorry for a late response (or was it early).

I guess I'll do the objects and surfaces (including water) as well as the XMLs. I'll leave the stones and trees for you, unless you have any objections?

I'm done too. However, I need the trees, big trees, and dead trees. That's all I need. You made all of that, right Gameboy? (I have pictures, but I'm at school, so...) I did the stones, but not the big stone (can always retexture, since there isn't much difference among big stones.

I tested it, and I am very pleased with myself. Damn, am I ever good. ;D

Who is compiling this?  I'm just wondering, because I'll do it if nobody else is.

Titi, you could make a volcano that just erupted as an object.

And what are we to do about trees?

Ahh creating tilesets  is so much fun I can't stop... ( I think I create one on my own if I don't stop now, but this will be something like hell not volcano.)
I'm using bones/skeletons for trees and skullz and bones and gore to decorate the tileset. I will upload everything I make,

Here are the first screenshots of the ground textures ( yes yes still with plants ):

Yes we do!  The textures are fantastic.
A note on the dead objects: Would it be possible if the dead guys looked a bit scorched (maybe instead of the spikes they were burned at the stake?) and also, I just want to point out that the guy "standing" while impaled is most accurate, since it was used as mostly a torture method.  There was Vlad as an exception though.

I don't like the worker head on the ground and in the tree, it is too morbid :'(

Indeed, I also would not prefer to play this tileset, but its fun to make it because its something completly different!
I (personaly)  would always play with something friendly like autumn/imladris/winter/evergreen and so on.
But for some factions, mods or scenarios this could be a cool tileset!
But you are right, I should create a second tileset which is less morbid and has more of a vulcanic style.

Ooh, I've been missing a lot. It looks like Titi's got really interested. Compile things together if you'd like and give them to me in ONE download. To answer the question, I'm compiling this all together modman. I need the trees though.

Here's the image I made about a week ago (I've been out of it, sorry). It is a bit postdated, before Titi came along, so sorry. It shows just my models that I made, though once I get Titi's and Gameboys models, I'll update and choose the best to make the ultimate tileset. However, I aim for one that people would want to play (even though my fav tileset is STILL winter).

NOTES: I like Titi's lava better, but I think my bones are better (sorry, the picture's a little zoomed out). The white rectangles are placeholders for the trees. In picture #5 you can see the carcass model (Titi's bonehouse edited and resized). I think I can mix some of the ground textures of mine and titi's together. I also have a sinister fog in mine.

BOTTOM LINE: I need everything that you have made Titi, along with the trees (gameboy?) in (preferably) one download. Titi's right, Tilesets ARE fun. (Give me an idea for my next).
