yes I'm not a real painter  :-[ :-[ , I will try to improve it a bit again, but I hope you will not see it in glest, because things are much smaller there.

I don't know my ass from my elbows when it comes to texture painting, but maybe there is some way to smooth it out and make it more even?  Somebody more familiar with GIMP than I am would probably know how to do this and it could make that model look a lot better.

It looks like you're making an attack animation.  Surely a slave wouldn't be very motivated to protect his cruel owners when the enemies show up to torch the place, right?

I will also make a spearfighter from this slave unit.

And for the slaves texture, lets see how it looks in glest. I think you will not see those details, the current blender screenshot is really huge compared to a glest units ingame size . The attack animation is there because I used the persian worker as a base unit. And this one only has an attack animation which is still in there ....

Yes you can try it, but there are soon will be other models to texture ;-).
If you want to help me with them too I would be happy :), because texturing is one of those things that takes lots of time.

The only thing I'm a little bit said about is the fact that you use the commercial photoshop and I will not work with this. So I cannot use your photoshopfiles if I want to change anything. I'm using the free gimp, and I don't have photoshop ( and it doesn't work in linux of course ).
But The result is nothing but a texture(tga), so go for it :) .

... by the way, any news for "scrubs" ?

I think we should make our own models. It's better to avoid copyright problems.....
And a pyramid is really easy to create, I will do one in about 3 hours when I'm at home ( I'm currently at work )

update:
I have got your texture now, wow good work!
Is it from the glest modders survival kit or did you really made it?

some things:

- We need it a bit darker because glest always lights up textures and due to a lot of sunshine in egypt the ( often white ) slaves had very brown/red skin. Should I make it, or do you make it?
- Is there teamcolor in it?
- is the hair area big enough? I modified the layout a bit there. Otherwise we will see teamcolor in the hair ...

ok, heres the file, i tried stretching it so if anyone whould have a go on textures?
i can try myself but i personally think good texturing is more difficult than lowpolymodelling...

what about the units? we still need the horse-car-archer?
as i read agyptian warriors didnt were helmets or amors, so we can just copy some workers again...

ps: i thnk i will make uv's soon, that is still part of modelling

I think if we want to add more team color, we should put some band on their forehead or something...
I have no other ideas, or maybe some detail on the "skirt".
And about the models, well, the Piramid you are right, they are really easy to make, but I think there is no prolem on using other games models, the creator (Blue Fang) made very clear that we can use it on our own risk.

This is not a long chariot so this is hopefully working as a glest unit.
For the archer lets use the slave as a base human unit.
This will give us a bit similar look for the humans in this faction.
It already has a skeleton and it's rigged, but currently it has a little rigging-bug. I will upload a fixed version tomorrow or later today.

What do you think of the colored slaves? Or does this pink skirt looks too gay? The red team looks worse than the others.
With this we would have very clear teamcolors for the slaves.
And please only judge the color yet its still the old worker in this screenshot. The new slave model will have longer hair and is changed in other ways too, this should be only a color demo.

wait a bit, I will try the new model which is much thinner than the current worker. I think the belt will be much more visible then.
Slaves are not typically strong and fat, but the current breefy worker model.

@MadElf: By the way, do you have everything to texture the temple now?

NEWS: Yesterday I watched a thing on Discovery Channel about the 10 wonders of Egypt, and when they talked about the Oiramids, they said that the Ancient Egypstians didn't have slaves, but workers.
They were 2 types of worker, the unskilled worker and the skilled worker.
So I think the whole slave thing doesnt make sense (I'm shocked too, I always thought they had slaves).

What do you mean?
I can texture it, but I need the Uv Map, or the original texture, also a g3d model would be good, so I can see the texture on the model  :D. And try the oher worker model.

well, your current job is the temple  ;)
I'm the one who is currently too slow with the slave.
But it will have the exactly same uv layout as the worker( only the hair will differ a bit).

Yes they had workers, but later they had their slaves. These where Israelite people and
they had white skin. These where the typical egypt slaves and the egypts where very known for their slavery. So I think its really not too wrong!
