even with the official binary I'm getting a segfault.

after compiling the game (no errors), I get a segfault instead of the main menu.
The logfile is empty and I don't know where the error could be.
Oh, and I've linked the /usr/lib/libopenal.so.1 /usr/lib/libopenal.so.0. Sound works (I can hear the sound at startup while the "Glest" screen is displayed).
My system:
Ubuntu 8.10
MSI Megabook GX610-T6435VHP Performance Edition
CPU: Turion 64 X2 TL-64 (2.20 GHz pro Kern)
RAM: 3 GB
HDD: 250 GB
GPU: ATI Radeon Mobility HD 2600 XT
Driver is the newest driver from AMD/ATI
