Another use for 16 players is for LUA scenarios. More factions allows more complexity in your scenarios.
I really don't see a problem with 16 player support. Why did MG bother to upgrade to 8 players? surely 4 was enough.
Well, actually to me 8 is enough...but I can see for the future 16 or 12 would be nice too...  ::)
We'll see...  :)

But you would like the option to right? [16]

Yah, having the option of 16 players would be awesome.

But like Ultifd, I'm perfectly content with 8 players. :)

I'd love to see 16. That'd be EPIC. Of course, maps would need to be very large, but if we capture the bases of foes that we defeat, that makes up for that (assuming we attack near foes first).

Doesn't AoE2 have that many? Or was it 12?

Either way, Glest is one of very few completed free RTS's, so it doesn't have much competition either way, though I'd still like to see this implimented. Also, I'd like to see MG's map format implimented and merged with GAEs.

AOE1 and 2 does not have so many players(max 8 ), and is in my opinion inferior to glest cuz it lacks truly unique units.

Yeah, I would
I just probably won't use it too much when it is first "released"...  ::)
Why? Because with that, other stuff needs to be..."updated"....maps, AI (maybe already?), stats, etc...

I agree the AI first must be updated, they always attack with everyone in one direction, and thne everyone in another direction, which is killing the players in that direction, so you wont survive unless u play 2v2v2v2 so I think that we'd better make use of a AI that all attack in another direction, except when in team, then in the same direction, instead of attacking in one direction allways....

16 players would be great though
