MAPS & SCENARIOS
« on: 17 April 2009, 07:20:13 »
So yeah I may be new to this community but I have interest in making scenarios and maps. Since I don't have an xml editor I will just make some maps for now but when I do I will make missions to make Glest much more enjoyable :)

I will just keep all my things in 1 thread to prevent this strand full of threads made by me.

Map: Cross Roads

Description: First begging map. When I have an xml editor I will put a missions using this map.

Download Link: http://www.mediafire.com/sharekey=788b8b868a04ee861f8e0fff488e27e0e04e75f6e8ebb871

Player1: Human       Team: 1
Player2: CPU ULTRA Team: 1
Player3: CPU           Team: 2
Player4: CPU           Team: 2

When I get the chance to make a scenario for this I would add some extra beggining units such as 1 Battle Machine as this is the first mission.

PS. Anyone know where I can download one?

You don't need an xml editor for this, every normal text editor does the job.
If you use windows, please use/install something different than notepad. This will save you a lot of trouble ...

Notepad++, Proton, Ultraedit are just some examples.

It usually destroys the format.
I often saw this with php-scripts, result -> big problems.
And notepad++ is very userfriendly, has many features and is simply cool ;-)
But now enought off-topic.

Notepad is a Microsoft product. There are much better freeware text editors available.

Heh, I've 'advertised' the Notepad ++ (recommended actually) for a while. Time to let everyone else do the job.

In short, it has some of the best (if not the best) synatix highlighting ever, in almost every known language. It has text effects, can convert to HTML &'s (ie: " becomes "). It has good formating, easy tabs, and more.

I would recommend you also take the time to look at Glest's lau features for making SCRIPTED SCENARIOS. (glest.110mb.com/lau.html)

BTW: Beginning is double n, single g. You are begging (as in requesting on your hands and knees) for something ;D !

[Omega, please, it's name is "Lua" - @kukac@]
[Why do I do this??? Oh well, expect the new Glest Guide to have a bit of spelling errors too... Make note to self: quit being a imbecile!]
