My Add-ons for original Glest.
« on: 2 May 2009, 03:08:32 »
i1ve been working on some add-ons for the original factions on Glest, to make them balanced with Elves, until now I made a "update" for the dragon, it has a new model, but I still need animation.
Picture:

I think that The Inheritance fans (like me) will like that Dragon, since I based it on Saphira. I also need ideas for new Add-ons, request are welcome!

P.S: I got the G3D scripts fixed, so I can export G3D files with the texture on them, perfectly, so, the next step is animation, let see if I can do it. :P

Wow. I really enjoy your new dragon model.

Although I am not an Inheritance fan (nor do I really even know of it at all) I really like the style of this dagon over the original. It's leaner and just more.... dragonl-like. It has a neck now!

Awesome.

Woah, animating is much easier than I thought! The model is animated already (all the four animations), the Icon is done and everthing else is fixed, I just need some cool Dragons sound to put on it (I don't want to use the original ones).

@madmanntis

I'm glad you like it! :D

Very nice.  Did you modify the original dragon model, or did you make this from scratch?

I modified it, I added claws, made the wings bigger, took of 2 horns, made the neck longer, made the tail longer, and I changed the head a lot.
And is much bigger than the original dragon

I am the series biggest fan, so I love your model.
Link to download? or is it not done yet?

*Sounds: Why not open them in Audocity (sp) and edit the tempo and tone? Highs and lows should make a noticable change, as can adding a few new ones if you can (watch the movie and tape with a cam or something).

OT: The movie sucked, didn't it? I think a todler could do a better job directing, and it basically made sequals very difficult by changing the whole friggin' plot. A curse on the entire cast's heads!

I was going to realease all units in a pack, but if you guys prefer one by one, I can do that too.

I found some cool Dinosaurs sounds on the internet, but I will try that program.

OMG, the movie was horrible! Saphira grows in like 5 seconds and they kill the Ra'zac in the first part. :-\
And Arya doesn't have Elven ears!

And I thought Arya was supposed to be drop dead gorgeous. No offense to the actor, but she looked almost evil...

The entire plot was thrown out, and I hope that one day, peter jackson or someone will come along and show how this really should have looked!

Yeh i agree about the movie. Although, normally people who have read the book, will say the movie sucks, but that movie really sucked.

Other than the dragon, what else are you planning on making/modifying?

Oh, and here's a link to Audacity in case you don't already have it: http://download.cnet.com/Audacity/3000-2170_4-10058117.html?tag=mncol

And once again, how long until release? I assume that the model is done. The XML should not have changed, since this is a graphical new version of the dragon, and not a new unit.

Well since this is my first animation, I still improving the walking animation, what I found quite annoiyng to make.
The units I'm pretending to make:

Magic:
- Dragon Rider; (mrph from the dragon, the rider shoots powerfull spells and the dragon has it owns attacks).
- Warlock; (Morph from the battlemage, so it has 2 "paths" to go, will need hell Gate research).
- Satyr (maybe I will do this one, I'm not sure).

Tech
- Horse Lord; (Morph from the Horseman, uses a 2 Handed sword, the horse has those "clothes" on the body as well as a scale armour).
- Ranger; (morph from the archer, has a bigger sight and range, is also faster and stronger).
- Trebuchet; (I was gonna make this a heavy defensive unit, but if you guys want I can make it a moving unit)

P.S: Any other ideas?

If you are thinking of new unit ideas still, I had a post (which I will now find and link to) that had an extensive list of units I though that Glest could and should add to Magitech.  Below is the link.  I would appreciate the discussion of that to continue there, in accordance with forum policy.  8)

Well I didn't see that topic, but i will keep post the units I make here, sisce that other topic is yours, and i'm not doing only ideas, i'm making the units.

Here is Trebutchet, sill not finished since I think the animation won't work properly because the "legs" are too short.

hehehe, the texture is not finished, I just put the spike sholders because I thought it would look cool, I'm working on the Satyr model right now, is really hard to make the old Bohemoth horns look like goat horns.
