New to the extras package. -- Help please?

Uhhh, so, I've been playing glest for maybe a week or something. And I was beginning to get bored. You know, same thing every time I play? But when I found out there was an extras package, i lit up, I thought it would be much more fun to make my own stage. But then when I came to this website, i red a few posts and found out there was so much moire than that.

I'm just wondering what program is used to create sprites for units etc. etc. and if theres a tutorial somewhere, could you please direct me? Thanx in advance.

Second, what do you mean by sprites? The texture? Or the icons?

I'm pretty sure Glest doesn't use sprites...

Sprites are still images used for 2D animations. Glest is 3D and uses 3D models in the custom g3d format. I would recommend glest.110mb.com (the Glest Guide) to learn EVERYTHING you need about modding. Also, the Glest guide's MDC (Mod Download Center) is a great asset to download 'extras'. thanx, i always thought sprite was a term used for any image in a game.

one other thing, what tribes do you recommend? (I know they're not tribes, i forgot the word for it)

I was thinking about indians, anything else? (Id really like a futuristic sort of thing, with lasers and lightsabers etc.)

They're called factions.

Start with the megapack. It's very complete (three factions) and get the omega map pack. Of course, you can always get them all...
