Looks good, though I think that the green of the buildings and the archers shirt looks a little smooth/plain. You could try to roughen things up using this strategy:
-Using Paint.NET, we set color 2 to complete ALPHA
-Now we set color one to a color that will be overlayed, and it should be partly alpha (ie: black, 3/4 solid)
-Now make a cloud (render > cloud)
-Set it to multiply, and then fool around with roughness
-You can do this a few times as needed, until it looks good, seed the pattern until it seems well placed.
-Note that it may affect tileability of the texture.
This is what I used to make scorched textures for destroyed buildings in Military, although with more alpha it should do nicely in making the textures look more natural. Also, make sure that the overlaying color goes well (something like a darker green or even a clashing light red (with more alpha though).
*Lookin' good though, and a good idea. Do you have a unit list?
