I was building a game on the stratagus engine.
But the AI is a big problem there (you have to script the whole AI yourself!).
And yet, that also has some good points.

I came with the idea that maybe every Glest tech should have an AI helper file (this would be an xml) where the order in which buildings should be build and the maximum (so they don't build to much research buildings). This, together with the auto AI, would probably make the AI better.

What is in the AI helper:
Building Order
Max Amount of a certain Building
Research Order
% of a certain Military Unit in an army

maybe some other things too?

What do you think?

Hah!  A very old topic that never got a reply, but should have! :)  Yea, I actually think that this may be a very good idea.  Ideally, the AI should be able to figure out what the best things to build first is, but it shouldn't hurt to be able to tell it.  Also, the military units to workers and what makes a base "stable" can vary a lot from one mod to another.  If one tech tree has very cheap & weak military units, you'll need to produce more of them, and visa-versa for expensive/stronger units.
