Feature request: lower graphic & CPU requirements

For no so high machines, could be lower graphic modes than the actual?

Selectable resolution, 16 bit color depth, less animation for units, no rain, simpler vision perspective, etc.

Selectable resolution

This is already possible using Glest.ini. resolution can be scaled down to any standard resolution i.e 640x480.

16 bit color depth

An option exists for this in Glest.ini but AFAIK its currently broken. Selecting anything except 32bit causes problems.

less animation for units

Animation requirement for glest are already pretty low. IMO the animation system needs an ovehaul as the current one is a little simplistic.

no rain

You can turn off all rain by a quick edit of the techtree XML's. Set rain value to 0.

simpler vision perspective

Not really sure what you mean, but GAE can be used to get a simpler top down perspective.

The response was useful for me, but...

less animation for units
Could be a "poor animation mode" to the units not animate if they are'nt moving (walking animated, but working or 'staying' not)

no rain
Code: [Select]
grep -irne "rain" /usr/share/games/glest/techs/magitech/*

I don't find any file with the "rain" word. I suppose this need to be in /usr/share/games/glest/techs/magitech/magitech.xml (?)

simpler vision perspective
Ho can I use "GAE" with Glest?

Thanks.
