I don't know XP (vista I do), but check if there is an app data folder in your users folder (which would probably be a hidden folder, so make sure to toggle hidden folders to be shown. Why does this happen? CURSED MICROSOFT, nuf said!

To stop this from happening, open the blender directory (the one in program files) and set the security properties to allow your user account full control.

Another alternative is to open a search box, and search for '.scripts' (without the ' '). Make sure you tick the box that says something like 'Search hidden and system files'.

Hope that helps, ask if you need better detail.

Wasn't there a version of Blender which had this script already installed, and the directory was uploaded?  I've been searching for this, because the link is broken on by Faction Download Center.

Newer blenders will expect scripts in,
C:\Documents and Settings\YourUserName\Application Data\Blender Foundation\Blender\.blender\scripts

older blenders might want them in,
C:\Program Files\Blender Foundation\Blender\.blender\scripts
[assuming blender was installed in the default location.]

Windoze of course doesn't do Python by default, so make sure that's set up too :)

If we set the security properties to allow your user account full control it makes a liability for the script in blender. Thanks

I don't think so, but he is doing some very nasty advertising. Though judging from the sole post, it is a person who does not know what a good sig looks like. No offense at all. Just not the best place to sell refrigerators.

I think it's a bot, because you notice that certain words, script and blender, were used in it's post, and not in a meaningful way at all  ::).  Basically, the post is nonsense, if you read it carefully, am I correct?

If rosejay0198 wasn't a bot, then he would have expressed outrage over our musings.

AND what does user account control have to do with installing the .g3d script?!

Well, the post makes sense to me. Every windows person knows that vista will try to mess up the scripts when UAC is on. That's what appdata's for, to hold things that we don't have permission to hold in program files. However, it doesn't seem to apply completely here, as the files still remain in app data, but that's usually the case. Since the post makes sense, it may or may not be a bot. If it was a bot, surely it would have posted at least a few times, wouldn't it?

On the other hand, the name sounds somewhat bot like, but then again, with so many people using numbers, and with overal memory of humanity improving, I guess memorizing 4 digits isn't too hard! ;D

And seeing he/she has only one post, they may not have commented because they may not have been on the Glest Board.

Of course, he/she may be a bot, or may not.

Wait, I just noticed he/she has an email adress, so why don't you ask? The adress looks legit, but hard to say, seeing spammers these days...
