You need to unzip the file into the directory in the Glest folder called "techs".  Then start up Glest and play the Megapack tech.

Umm... The default tech for glest (magitech) is in the techs folder... It should be in the root of your glest folder (i.e you should be able to click go into the main glest folder and see the techs folder their).

Mod Megapack V4 installation problem

Sorry Assassin, but I don't think you quite explained it properly.

  • Open the start menu (the windows button on the lower left corner)
  • Choose 'Computer'
  • Open Hard Drive C (your main Hard Disk Drive [HDD])
  • Open the folder titled 'Program Files'
  • Search for a folder titled Glest_*. The * is the version number.
  • Inside this folder is a folder named techs. Now lets inspect your megapack folder
  • Open the megapack folder you have downloaded, after having unzipped it by choosing 'Extract All...'.
  • Check this new folder. If you can see a at least two folders, one named factions, one named resources, and another file, then you have the right folder. If you can't see these folders, you may need to go one folder deeper.
  • Once you can see these folders, copy the folder they are in.
  • Remember we opened the techs folder earlier? Now go back to that and paste. Give it a moment...
  • You are now done! Congrats! If you get ANY errors, tell me EXACTLY what they are, and I can debug it for you.

There, simple enough. BTW, when you were inside you Glest folder, you should also have noticed other folders other than techs. For example, maps are installed in the maps folder, scenarios are installed in the scenarios folder, etc;

This topic gets too little megapack related so I decided to move it to its own topic. Hope its OK ( titi )
Try Megaglest! Improved Engine / New factions / New tilesets / New maps / New scenarios
