Hi I noticed the lack of a server browser in glest(probably mentioned several times)
Glest can make use dpmaster (for the master server)

and of course someone needs to add a server browser in game

That could be quite nice for GAE. Why not post over there? They are currently merging GAE and vanilla glest, and improving pathfinding and adding lua. I'm not really sure of their road plan, but they are gonna have to improve multiplayer sooner or later.

Things they planned on doing include improving the map maker, improving AI, adding support for different image types, and plenty other. If you know how to code, though, it would be handy to add this yourself (contact them, and wait until they are done the merger of glest3.2 and GAE.

What's the current status of this feature? Has it been implemented? I might be interested in giving a hand on this, but if I understand the previous post correctly, there's no point in working on the Glest codebase directly. Is the project dead?

No, not dead. Let's call it maintenance mode. No new features, only bugfixes.

I'm not sure if a master server is really needed. You can use a lobby:

Oh  :(  So if I want to work on a patch for adding master server support, I should work on GAE code base then?

Yes, please base your code on GAE. It's unlikely your patch gets integrated into normal glest.
