Well, I am not french, but can you try to download it from the official glest.org and make sure it is 3.2.2. The version you downloaded is 3.1.2 which is old, and thus why you should always use the official site. I think the problem is that glest does not have permission to open this file and write to it. On windows, right click, properties, security, then add your users name and give them full control. On linux, you'll want to set that numbers thing so that there is the correct permissions. I only know how to use that for web servers, so I may be wrong, but it should be permission 777, whicvh is universal full control. Try that. If you are on a mac, I got no clue, but google might help you.

To set the french language in glest after, open the glest.ini found in the folder that you installed glest into. Look for languages, and change it to be the french file name, as found in the data/languages folder of glest. Tell me if that helps, or if something else goes wrong, describe it to me and I'll see what I can do. If it fails, please post your computers 'stats'.

There is a file inside glest directory called glest.ini. Here you can change resolution.

You are probably on windows so get a more recent version : https://sourceforge.net/project/downloading.php?group_id=127297&filename=glest_3.2.2.exe

And if you understand english, read this page : http://uncyclopedia.wikia.com/wiki/France;D

Okey so you have the 3.1.2 version (but you can't use it). Then extract http://glest.codemonger.org/files/glestadv-0.2.11-fpm-0.1.9-win32.zip where glest 3.1.2 is installed and launch glestadv-sse2.exe or something like this (with administrator rights).

You have to run glestadv-sse2.exe (with administrator right...) not to launch game as usual. glestadv-sse2.exe should be in your glest directory.

And if your poblem is resolution, editing glest.ini should be enough to solve it (or glestadv.ini if you run glestadv-sse2.exe ).

Vista may need that you launch game as administrator.

It seems like your .ini is not complete, if all that is written is those three font lines.  The full .ini is a lot longer.

An incomplete ini should not give this error. Especially if it did this for both glest and GAE. I'll give you two options:

1. (My favorite) Turn off UAC. Do NOT do it using the user accounts panel. I've seen some bad results from that. Instead, open 'run' (you may have to search for that) and type 'msconfig.exe' (without quotes). Not only can you mess around with a lot of stuff here (don't), but this is the best way to turn off the UAC (alternatively, there's the registry, but I NEVER recommend that to people since most people don't even know what the registry is, and shouldn't even be thinking about touching it). Anway, in the tools tab, scroll down till you see 'disable UAC'. Launch that. Restart is necessary.

2. (only affects that one folder, not guarenteed, takes a while, depending on how many files are in folder) Set permissions. Find the glest directory at C:\Program Files\Glest_*. Right click the glest folder (glest_*) and choose properties. Click the security tab, click the edit button, click add and type your name, or if your name is already in the list, choose it. Check the checkbox marked 'full control'.

If one doesn't work, try the other, or both at the same time. If neither work... Well, I'm stumped (dammit).

And if you understand english, read this page : http://uncyclopedia.wikia.com/wiki/France;D
YES! Another pitful, poor, possessed soul brainwashed by wikipedia is giving into the chaos of uncyclopedia! You should check out 'canadians' while you're there as well. Also, the page on Females is quite funny (and actually mostly appropriant, compared to most articles there. Of course, don't visit the site at all if your mom's reading over your shoulder...)

I can't play ! :(
For your 1st option, i know how to do it with the user account panel bot not with the open 'run' ...
For the 2nd option , it doesn't fix the error.
can you describe the 1st option?

When I try to run the program I get a run time error 7 : out of memory message. I was able to run the game before but now this error is in the way.
I have a 2gig computer with 512 of ram so the ram should be enough...
Do you need to install an updated version of visual basic 6 or something?
