Glest 3.2.2 crash
« on: 1 August 2009, 19:31:35 »
Hello, I use the glest-binary from https://forum.megaglest.org/index.php?topic=4254.0 and wanted to player multiplayer.
The first game where we (two humans) played together was "normal" meaning no crash (I had some graphical glitches though, e.g. for some weird reason glest came in windowed mode for some time and the screen flickered) but the second game aborted after some minutes - glest gave no error message and there was no error in glest.log except for
Code: [Select]
#2 Error connecting socket for IP: 83.156.243.222 for Port: 61357 err = -1 errno = 115 [Operation now in progress]EINPROGRESS in connect() - selecting
Apparent recovery for connection sock = 16, err = 1, errno = 0
Valid recovery for connection sock = 16, err = 1, errno = 0
Exception: Timeout waiting for message
at the beginning.

My system: Ubuntu 9.04, 32bit, 1GB Ram, ATI Radeon 4350 (with fglrx-Drivers)

And another crash - for a short time "Deleting cells" appeard before the crash in a way the loading screen is displayed normally.

Something went wrong with your socket. Possibly a firewall is blocking it, or you may need to use a different port. Check your firewall, and also try your ini settings for the socket. Does single player work?

Also, concerning the second crash, are you trying to say it crashes after saying 'deleting cells'? Is that the same crash, or is it different. Error message?

in a way the loading screen is displayed normally.
I'm confused by what you're trying to say there...

Hmm ... now I hosted the game and everything worked fine - I don't know if single player works.

It may be the same crash or another - the time where this "deleting cells"-Message appeard was really short.

What I am trying to say is that the "deleting cells"-Message is displayed as string like the strings "loading archer/other unit ..." at the loading screen.

Deleting cells should be displayed in the beginning of the game, if that's what you are asking. They are a temporary placeholder for dividing the map. We don't need to see these so they delete.

Anyway, glad you got it to work.

To try a quick single player, start a game and set another faction to cpu.
