i want to know, how will this faction be different from your other ones? (please say there's a difference)

when i think Africa, i think Zulus, lions, and hit-and-run tactics.

will any of these be in it?

if your lazy and dont want to read it all, "hit-and-run" is where a lesser, irregular force uses small strikes, raids, skirmishes, and ambushes to defeat a larger opponent. Africa should be a physically inferior faction, but makes up for that with speed.

Isn't this more related to people's own strategies? Although, if units were made more specifically for this that would be nice, I guess...

Some ideas:
- Will we see some kind of vodoo priest with a puppet? Or is this not related enough to aftrica?

- Elephants is a must.

- Lions?

- what kind of flying units will we see? I would suggest some dark clouds made by a priest making fire? Those clouds attacks with flashes like the thunderbird.
  teamcolor can be done by using transparency material in some models.
 For the cloads its best to mix different objects in one model. some have teamcolor some have no teamcolor. For transparencs basically dont use only textures transparencs but also think about using material transparency which might work better. Look here , this works for non teamcolor material too:

ive seen games where one faction was tailored to hit-and-run and stealth, that's because all of the faction's units were physically inferior to the units of other factions. this can work (and it would be out of the norm)

This mod is completely finished Even Images But I am Still going to Change some of the unit names.

Hmm...First look: Looks (kinda) much better, but why is the loading screen kinda small...? 500x500?

Crocodiles are cool.toucan is beautiful.
I like the flying spearman's gadget.
and gazelles and monkeys are very cute. kawaii!  :-*

I think strengthen_wepons upgrade takes too long time.
and Lions would look more better if you would retexture it.

Updated first post and stickied for a week... Now I'm going to try it out with someone else...I wish more people were online today.
EDIT: Nice update. I found that
  • Toucans look nice. Would be really cool if you could provide better attacking sounds. It isn't bad or anything, but they could be much better.
  • Production for almost everything is way too slow. It then, affects the gameplay...also then you usually have too much resources while waiting your units to be produced.
  • Monkey trainers are good, their way of producing monkeys is funny.
  • Icons could be brighter. I understand why it's so dark...but still.
  • Stone needs more use...I think only the crocodile hunter uses it.
  • Music I'm  :-\ Not sure if "Festive" would be the best.

ok, i like it too, but i would like to give some harsh constructive criticism:
  • all upgrades take too long to research
  • i think it's spelled "guard tower," not "gaurd tower
  • it's not very GAE friendly, i tried it and the gazelle and clubman were without tex (the clubman was even missing his model!)
  • the toucan was too big, how many toucans do you know that are 4 feet long?
  • the African tribes did not have arrows, they used spears. i think all range guys should use spears instead of arrows
  • what in the world is "Advanced Wood"?
  • question: when you guys make these factions, do you ever think of giving them a "niche"? like, a particular strategy? if so, what do the Africans specialize in?
  • i noticed that the Engineer makes walls, but walls arent really supported by Glest, are they?

i dont mean to sound rough, but i could see this mod becoming even better. good job at making an interesting faction. i should point out that it would be foolish to make your latest update your last.

Nice ideas I will change The speeds Of lots of the stuff.
Advanced wood Is One Upgrade Higher then plain wood.
I think the archer is fine....
The toucan Is really small but because Its in air It looks bigger.
I made this mod for Megaglest.
This Mod Isn't made to work in GAE I don't plan to change anything (Jpeg to TGA ect.)
I will add more stone use.
Music is fine right? Doesn't have to be perfect.
I plan to add more units Ideas?....

I want this mod to balance with Megapack.

when i asked about "advanced wood," i meant to say "ive never seen 'advanced' wood in real life, i just assumed it was plain old wood." if you're going to make upgrades, let them actually make sense. since "advanced wood" grants you the defense tower, you should rename it to "enhanced defenses" or something, not "advanced wood." and, the wood upgrades should add some HP or armor to the buildings.

and, if you want to balance it with the Megapack, it shouldnt be a "palette swap" of Tech. they need a niche, something that makes them different from the other factions. having a guy who makes monkeys does not count as "being different."

i would like to reinforce the thing i said about not having archers. they didnt have archers, they had spears; and they flung them with atlatls (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atlatl). because they use crocs and toucans, i assume that they are the jungle type. that means that they would use spears. (and not ride lions - lions dwell in the savanna.)

im not trying to discourage you, im just giving you suggestions on how to make it more realistic....

I have fixed the stone issue.
changed some production times.
And changed the name of "Advanced wood" to "Advanced structures".
-last I added an extra unit
