Select both meshes in object mode and press ctrl-j.

the error it throws at me is this.
Vadility error:iElement indices does not forllow DTD

I got this error the other day. I think it happens when some faces of a mesh are UV mapped and some are not.

I got a similar message when I didn't make all faces triangles.  

Edit:  I keep making textures, and when I export them, they have capital letters when I never typed in any capital letters.  I think that any models with this will crash glest when run on linux.
