Hmm.....it seems I'm mistaken on a few subjects around here.
Yes there could be a lot of units in the "Swords and Shields era" besides what tech has but I'm refering to basic, and I'm trying to have halberdiers and cataphracts(heavily armored cavalry, known as heavy cavalry in this mod).
Talk to Eliminator about the models, because he made all of them.

Thank for you input, and constructive criticism.

Unless I'm mistaken, halberds didn't exist until WAY after the fall of the Roman Empire... like post-Crusade era.  If they did, the Roman Empire probably would have fallen a lot earlier.  :D

Well as I said earlier I'm trying to make a fantasy Roman mod, with a mix of weapons from all over the "Swords and Shields era".

This is supposed to be a fantasy game, you know Battle Machines, Airships, and all, so I'm just mixing fantasy and later weapons with the Romans, and I think this actually quite good.

Well, what you are making is not Romans.  It should get a new name.

Quote from: archmage101
And come on, the old Glest team didn't design Glest to be modded, they made a tech faction which covers almost all the basic units of the "Swords and Shields era"( I like to call it )
Swords and shields were nothing new to the "Swords and Shields era".  To me it represents the lack of knowledge exhibited commonly.  A better term would be the latin medieval. (Middle age)  If I had to date the barracks' units, I wouldn't be able to because it has 1100s horsemen with modified basinets without visors, undatable Sherwood archers, dismounted knight type swordsman (Because no commoner could afford full body mail at the time), and the guard would be one of Charlemagne's paladins, like Roland (800s if you don't already know  :P )  plus an 1150s to 1250s style metal bucket helm.

For the last time, this is fantasy Romans, NOT historical.
It's meant to be a blend of fantasy, middle ages, and Romans. Because that fits into Glest well.

Dates are changed to next weekend, because I should have the icons and animation updates.
And the XML isn't balanced all that well right now, and I have other issues at hand.

I wasn't asking for it to be historical.  In fact, I would prefer the contrary.  Just don't call it romans.

No It should be called romans because it is close enough and no one will make one that is more real then this one.

Did you set the start and end frames to 1 when you exported?  If not, then it exports as a 250-frame animation with a huge filesize.  Oh, and "mb" is megabytes.

I know why it's because of the roof texture size.
The roof texture is 14 mb.

:o That's HUGE!  Magitech textures are usually 256x256 for regular units and around 256x512 for buildings.  Anything with a higher resolution than maybe 512x512 isn't really going to look any better in Glest because it's so zoomed out.  There are also some tricks you can use to conserve texture space, like mapping similar parts of the model to the same part of the texture.  For example, the energy source texture only has one skull motif, but the model has four, each of which are mapped to the same part of the texture.  The same goes for each of the spikes.
