Well, it would appear that I indeed have some system instability, despite having done a lot to prevent problems.  My guess is that either my CPU or mobo has some very slight instability, just enough to cause a kernel oops every few months, which is exceedingly annoying.  It would work fine for months and then crash again.  (At least, I presume that is the problem).  I'll have it power cycled tomorrow.

oh, and it's back up now.  After further investigation, it may be my ram or possibly even the timings, so maybe I wont even need new hardware! =)  In the mean time, I'm going to schedule it to reboot every weekend to help keep the system stable.  I hate that, it feels too much like a windoze machine! =(

On related topics, if you want me to help design the webpage, I'll need some help making a public (and private) key. It is just not an easy windows thing. Meant for linux, I guess. Not sure how your server works...?  ???

Is it a separate linux server that you own or a corporate one that is 'rented' like many websites (ie: mine)?
