i guess something like it , but no offense not so hot on star trek great show , but idk about modding after it , maybe star wars , but i would like something fresh and new =)

No offense, but it might be better to come up with your own ideas rather than stealing someone else's, and yes it is illegal since it's copyrighted (they normally just don't care enough to do anything about it). :P

I think coming up with something sci-fi that's inspired by Star Wars, Star Trek, Stargate, Battlestar Galactica, and/or Dune could be pretty cool, but I'd avoid directly lifting anything from any of those franchises if I were you.

Well, Tech is only partly steampunk.  I mean, you can hardly call a mailed swordsman steampunk right?  And steampunk is such a popular/general theme that it has many different modifications.  I was thinking that every mole would be steampunk themed.
