In Linux, is the location the same for Add/Remove as it is for Synaptic?  I'm not at home so I can't check, but it might be good to make a note of it.  Also, putting a link to this topic in the Etiquette & FAQ thread might be good.  I'll take a look at where the user files are on Windows Vista when I get home, but I think they're in the app data folder.

It's the same package, just different frontends.

I don't think this topic is useful. You can install glest where you want it. So, you can surely delete the source entries and the rest can only be default path.

Well, I'm talking about default, for people who DON'T change that stuff.
Because if you do change that stuff, then you would already know, but I don't bother changing the stuff simply because I want it were the default is.
It will ask you where you want to install something, but by default I mean just going with what's already in the location box.

We get a lot of people asking how to install mods and we have to explain to them how to find their directory every time, so this is a pretty frequently asked question.  However, I think once we get all of the directories sorted out, we should just put a link to it in the first post of the FAQ thread and lock this one.
