GUE -- Glest Ultimate Experience!

Ok, I finished the first version, compressing now............
I'll upload in the morning, probably going to take 3 hours, but if that's what it takes I got it...

Basically what this is, is mostly every mod for Glest compiled into one, big file. Also I put a lot of work into this so please don't dismiss it as another 'unneeded' thing, or 'unnecessary'.
This includes a lot of tilesets, maps, and scenarios along with all the mods contained inside it.

Another feature is a GUE enhanced UI(User Interface), which will be a seperate download.

Also, for the size of it... well... it is what it is but... maybe get a .torrent up too?... Just a thought.

On the other hand... I really really really think you should post this:

* List of "mostly every mod" included in GUE.
* List of features in Enhanced Menu.

Also, for as much work as you have put into this... it's still a huge download and many people may not want everything included in it... Just my opinion... But as it's basically done anyways... do make it real for the rest of us.

you know, i tried to do this as well (albeit with my own improvements to the mods to balance them out a bit, like getting the SST guys and making more of them-there is now a sniper and a few others)  i didnt tell anyone because it thought ppl would hate me for "taking" their stuff and twisting them for my own purposes (dont hate me!).

Well, I haven't downloaded it (can't really on my internet), but I am curious if you have the right version of military. I noticed the list you have puts the version as beta, but the current version is 2.2, which is a final with installer, icons, and fully working. There's one more version after that: 2.3, which has full scenario capibilities and needs GAE 0.2.13

No GUE doesn't include GAE so those versions of military won't work, unless you give me the latest version for Vanilla Glest.

Erm... shouldn't you have published your torrent in some torrent directory such as mininova or the likes?

As it seems, FileFront is definitely NOT prepared to publish a torrent and neither AFAIT could you have done it quicker than any of the other versions... You have just uploaded the .torrent file itself. And (though I have never done it myself) I believe that a torrent directory like mininova.org actually uses the .torrent file you sent them to know what to fetch from your computer and then have published on their site for whomever may want it...
In other words, you uploaded information on your package to filefront, which can do but offer that information to be downloaded. However, once downloaded (which I did try), it will not work as the data it references is not on my computer! You must uploade the entire lot (i.e. the .7z and the .torrent but only providing the .torrent to mininova will make mininova fetch the .7z from your computer and have it all ready to be downloaded).

Mininova.org pretty much takes care of automating this latest part.

I suggested you did that because being such a large file, connections may break during download before you get the full file, eventually forcing you to restart the download from scratch.
Also, not putting the whole burden of sharing your file on one single host (in this case FileFront) by itself reduces the risk of host-hangup...

If it's too much hassle for you, that'll be ok too. And if you want, I can try and publish it on mininova.org myself after I got the .7z in the "regular" way myself.

For people who are using the torrent:

My computer is going to be on all the time, except when a thunder-storm passes over, so you can expect just about 24-7 service for the torrent.
Also my max upload speed is set for "No Limit", so you can download as fast as your computer allows.................

By the way in the full GUE you get the enhanced menu.

No uploading site seems to be working much today.
I tried to upload data.7z(enhanced menu), and it just sat there for hours saying calculating speed and time.

But I'll work more on Tuesday night.......................for now you need to use the torrent to get this.

@Omega:I don't know how to manually install GAE because, I've never really got it working, I put all the files where people say to put them and it just doesn't work........no errors..........

Once I learn how to get a working GAE on Linux, and windows I'll make patchers that install it. I've gotten to know InstallJammer pretty well now.

@jda: Will respond of Tuesday night, and hopefully fix the torrent(I don't know that much about torrents......................)

What is the difference between the enhanced menu and the one that isn't 'enhanced'?

About the torrent: is it working or not?
I quit my torrent program because it was slowing my internet way down and you said it had a problem.

Thanks for the GAE help, I'll look into it after I finish all these installer things and all that crap, and then I'll make patchers that install it.

The enhanced menu:
New button sounds(not specifying)
Chaged some of the menu buttons looks, add a little blue to the water.
Changed the background image when the game is loading....
Changed some of the team colors, so that they can be easily seen on the map......(augh I hated that dark green, couldn't find out when I was being attacked by them right away.)
A few other minor changes.......play to find out......

The computer's been on all night and retries every ten minutes - not a single bit has been downloaded yet.

Well of course because my torrent program is OFF, because you said that the torrent isn't working.
I'm at my mom's house now, but when my Dad gets home I'll call him, and tell him to start Vuze(azureus), and make sure that my torrent is uploading.

Well, I've never uploaded a torrent myself (other than those that get automatically seeding after I download them), so I have no clues to what's missing...

Try the link I gave you above, for mininova.org. Maybe the problem is your tracker...

Why use a torrent? I consider them last resort measures. They are very slow to start, often crowded, are limited to the people seeding, generally associated with illegal downloading, and just cannot match the raw speed of a web hosted file (preferably FTP).

And in addition to that, you need a special program for it that most computers don't come with (I think).
