It seems to be a list of stats for units from magitech, FPM and some other ones you made up.

Omega, what do you use to make these images & such?  Nice organizational work for sure! :)

Not that I think that anything would change, but now is the best time to say it.  I personally think the best way to split it would be:

Tech
Historical- The way things happened historically.  So you could go through all of the siege machines, and get crusader stuff in too.
Steampunk- This will be fun.  All sorts of weird machines which look cool, and can even be slightly magical.

Magic
Elemental Magic- Water, Earth, Fire, Wind.  You know the drill.  Buildings and mages and units themed for each element here.
Necromancy Magic- Undead stuff.  So basically what corruption is now for FPM.

Note
Something similar to Dark Magic would be best to be in the place of undeads, because Dark Magic's whole theme is supposed to be opposing happy, green, things.  Tinker bell and other fairies come to mind...

@Daniel: Have you read through the HTML page yet? Your thoughts? And I used standard paint.NET for my image. It's really nothing. You should see my military map (unreleased). It's gorgeous.

@Modman: Nice, but I have no plans on changing it, and I still like the original FPM ideas. Guess I got used to it.

My site seems to be back up now. Dunno why its downtimes are kinda nasty. I think it's due to my cheapness since it's free... I considered switching hosters, but too many people know my site, and making redirects on every page sucks, and I can't use 404 redirects (by getting the old url) since I don't have access to the htaccess file... As well as I have a lot more files on my site than meets the eye.........

Hectate, FPM was made MANY months ago by the GAE team, so I think that it came first.  ;)
And I'll use unique models and unit ideas since I don't by any means want to mirror another mod...

Well why not just make the Dark Magic and the Holy empire inside of the path of enlightenment and corruption since these are almost done mods and have great units and models in them and it says the time  ;)

Sorry fluffy, but thats a big flat NO. I don't support that and I strongly doubt daniel would!

You see, FPM is an EXTENDED magitech. There's no new factions (technically speaking). Just the same old factions that can choose a path to go down, either nature or corruption for magic and reason or enlightenment for tech. They should be completely unique, not using others models. I don't mind making, say one tricky model just retextured (with permission, of course) if they fit perfectly (ie: gameboy's ent from the elves would make a perfect treant), but I do not want to make something that feels like retexturing or even just copying of others with new XMLs!

I'm also a control freak who needs all those blend files in case I need to make a change. I also dislike having to wait for others to make changes that I could simply do myself (unless only they can do it).

As well, I'd like to follow the original FPM concept (what was finished of it, NOT the wiki page that nobody ever read) as closely as possible, and using others factions doesn't do that very well.

Lastly, I doubt modman would even want his faction being used.

Don't bother arguing the individual points, they all just sum up to a big NO anyway (not trying to be harsh, but I need to be ASSERTIVE).

Omega, do you have the your proposed unit stats in the form of XML or a spreadsheet?  Also, what did you do the diagrams in?  Do you have the original files so I can edit/mark them up for discussion?

Here's the deal.  The main thing I'm looking at is entirely removing the steampunk theme from the mod.  I considered having a separate sub-faction that continues along the steampunk theme (with a matching magic sub-faction continuing along strict middle-of-the-road "arcania"), but then realized that it violates the principles of the universe I'm creating otherwise.  In an alternate universe (a fork of this mod) the steampunk theme can continue in a variety of ways, but it doesn't fit into this theme, rather, it's been an artifact of the mod (well, the original game) I forked this universe from. :)  Derivative works are quite a funny thing and I'm very thankful for open source and content licenses (like GPL and CC) so that we can play with each other's ideas, but I want to keep this world distinct from that of the original Glest mod/theme.

Having said that, somebody who likes steampunk can take the work we're doing and fill it out in a variety of creative directions.  I truly wish I could find the backstory I wrote last year.  I hope it isn't something that was lost when the forums were screwed up.  I think it would make my concepts much more clear.  BTW, if you haven't read this post, please do.  As I mentioned earlier, I did complete the code for the ability to replenish EP and I added an emanation to the acolyte so that they give the priestess additional damage to her lightning attack.  I think that the Abby should be the more advanced building (not completely sure) but I am entertaining wcoiw's original idea to allow the lessor building to be morphed into the greater building.  Either way, the other candidates are temple and church (and yours, Cathedral).  But I dunno, a Cathedral sounds pretty grand too.

Well, I have the FPM folders with the XMLs and stuff, but haven't modified them yet. I was still planning, and those stat proposals are still proposals until we decide on the units. If you need them or something, I can upload FPM to filefront (perhaps should be done anyway, since codemonger is down?).

If you want to do the XMLs so I can see the layout, be my guest!
