How to import G3ds?
« on: 28 October 2009, 06:34:26 »
I've looked for a while, I can't seem to find any working way to import g3ds, does anybody know what files I need, to actually import a g3d, I can already export, but I need to import.

On the contrary...

Keep in mind that when you import the model, it's already posed in whatever shape that the animation puts it in.  Also, it's going to have a few shape keys that need to be deleted before you can modify the mesh.

I tried this one once too. Does anyone know if it is still in development. Would be nice to have such a thing for export and import (all in one).

Your Python might actually be too new.  The script is old and I think Python went through quite major overhaul recently.

Of course posting the actual error message will help  ;)

Then start Blender from console. The errors are written to stdout, so they should appear there.

Download the one from Factions Download Center.  It works fine.  Just make sure that you do the mesh/vertices/remove doubles or it will be in pieces.

Open up your scripts window, go to Scripts > Update Menu, and then Scripts > Wizards > G3D File Format Im/Exporter.  If you don't do the Update Menu, it won't know you put it there.
