Romans and beyond...
« on: 21 December 2009, 16:10:29 »
I propose that instead of new faction, that seems to fit in nowhere with Glest, that the community creates a series of factions that existed in the same time period as the Roman Empire, and hopefully faught with them.

Mark, you probably know a bit about who fought the Romans...

I think I'll do some research myself.......

List of adversaries:
Carthaginians
Barbarians
Grecians
Egyptians

Gosh, the Roman's fought everyone - they did conquer thier little corner of the world and all. Don't know where that laves you for faction choices though, everyone else were pushovers, lol.

FRANKS!!! (which you called by the older name, Gauls).

CHARLEMAGNE! Sorry, just thought that always was my favorite historic figure, followed by augustus caesar.

@Hectate, they did eventually conquere the romans. For example, the ottoman empire (meh) took out the east (byzantine) empire, taking the capital of Constantinople. The franks were probably the most powerful, and the most successful leader, Charlemagne, was actually crowned empire of the holy roman empire or something by the pope.

The carthigians would be interesting, since they lasted a long time inside enemy territory and could have defeated the romans if they had recieved the reinforcments they needed. I don't recall much about british though...

The huns would have been quite powerful, and brutal...

We're not that far ahead in time, the "Holy Roman Empire" doesn't exist, it's still the Roman Empire.

I'm going to have to say........no way man. I mean the gauls you guys made are uh...........kinda brain-damaged.
I want quality, and the gauls faction in V-Bros Pack 3 has quality level 1/10, no offense.
Romans deserves better than V-BrosPack 3, I mean Romans is of much higher quality than the other factions there, besides, we're always updating Romans every month or so anyway.

This is not meant to offend you, but you've been told quality over quantity before.

I Like this idea, this is a direction I would like to tackle. I can also bring a good quality with the romans.
There is also the Barbarians, and phoenicans.

Though are we looking for enemies of the Romans or just Nations in that timeline?

I also heard the greek had aided the carthoginies in some battles against Rome, that would be a good army to include into this. You could probably throw in some greek mythology in the faction.
I'm not sure what/if I'm doing a faction but It would be cool to see someone else get a start on it.
