Avatar's Na'vi faction
« on: 17 January 2010, 18:22:19 »
Would anyone be interested in making a Na'vi faction from Avatar?
It would probably work like this:

Home tree: Produced Na'vi workers, and upgrades(decided later) regenerates by itself

Na'vi Worker:
Builds:
  • Ikran nest
    To train Ikran(arial unit)
    Toruk makto (after upgrade)
  • Warriors circle
    To Train Na'vi warrior, Nantang
and Nantang call(allows Warriors to summon Nantang)
  • Na'vi Stable
To train Pa'li rider, Angtsik and Palulukan(after upgrade)
  • Tree of souls
To Train Atokirina(Heals and has weak attack)
and Shaman(Magic attacks and builds well of souls(heals nearby units)

Needed: Modeler, some one to do sounds and texturer. i can do XMLs

comment if ur interested or would like to add anything.

Heres viper wolf:

Heres Na'vi warrior

Heres Na'vi archer

For the Na've worker just take away the warriors spear and give it someking of hood or shoulder peice (not cloak)

Heres Hometree

its a bad pic but basicay hometree is a massive tree :P

I'll let you get on with those for now thx

@phoenix yes pali are direhorses but i'm going to use they're Na'vi names.

Thanks for clearing that up. And navi names are a good idea. If someone goes and builds a human faction id rather call them humans then skypeople

I was just wondering about adding a new resource, this movie is about "saving the planet".

Perhaps something with a new renewable resource, like air, water. Or just sumthin like Mana, due to this is a "Fantasy" faction (look faction, not fraction!!)

and for the hometree, will it be doors on it? or wil the workers "swing" down from a branch?
Perhpas they can arrive on some of these Ikran birds?

and yeah, what about some hero units? There is some "heroes" in the movie.

Also, i would like to say that i quitted making my new faction, and i will delete it anytime soon, or it wil just die ;)

In the future, Jake, a paraplegic war veteran, is brought to another planet, Pandora, which is inhabited by the Na'vi, a humanoid race with their own language and culture. Those from Earth find themselves at odds with each other and the local culture. Written by Giorgio_C

The Jake dude may perhaps be one, i have yet to watch the movie, but i think the plot is that this war vet is rescued by a na`vi woman, and then he wnats to stop confrontation between Human and na`vi. Then perhaps one of these, or maybe both may proove to be eligibile for the hero role?

:o another thing is in that quote aswell! Pandora tileset! XD ok thats a joke, i bet that it would be very hard to complete that :)

soz doubled, but i found the whole plot, and another hero has arrived, guess who?

Quote
When his brother is killed in battle, paraplegic Marine Jake Sully decides to take his place in a mission on the distant world of Pandora. There he learns of greedy corporate figurehead Parker Selfridge's intentions of driving off the native humanoid "Na'vi" in order to mine for the precious material scattered throughout their rich woodland. In exchange for the spinal surgery that will fix his legs, Jake gathers intel for the cooperating military unit spearheaded by gung-ho Colonel Quaritch, while simultaneously attempting to infiltrate the Na'vi people with the use of an "avatar" identity. While Jake begins to bond with the native tribe and quickly falls in love with the beautiful alien Neytiri, the restless Colonel moves forward with his ruthless extermination tactics, forcing the soldier to take a stand - and fight back in an epic battle for the fate of Pandora.

Actually I was thinking that a new tileset was going to be necessary. Tilesets are easy to make because the modelling and texturing of trees and rocks is alot less complex than animals/vehicles and there is no animation. The problem is it takes alot of objects to make a tileset (50-60 minimum).

Also I think that there should be a seperate Avatar tech tree with its own resources. making a magitech compatible faction can be done easily by changing a few lines in the XML but we should be aiming for a whole new tech tree and tileset  ;D

wciow, ok, but just don`t ask me to model, although, i seem to have got very involved in this, im only sugesting.

Also, a techtree? nice!

with the new tileset and new tech tree, why only one faction? then you must make something like Terra/Terran/Terranoid faction, due to there were Humans and Na`vi in the movie.

I have a quesion also, Campaign? i heard someone other were working on it, then this would be something we could call a "quality-mod".

I now a campaign would proove to be difficult, but if someone else were up to it, you coukld just use their XMLs since this you don`t have to bother with yet. You don`t ned to create a campaign XML yet because if someone else does it, you could use their if you know what i mean. Actually, i personally don`t like the idea of a campaign, cause then there would take ages before the game would be up and running. And yeah, please use regualr zip instead of 7z (or just use both) because my compute keeps ignoring when i try un-7z the 7z files   :-\

Oh, now i really feel that i want this mod to do very well! i can feel that i wanna get avatarized! lol ;)

ok
@wicow yes a tech tree is a good idea as is tileset, if we did a tech tree what rescourced would it have? apart from wood ad mabye stone.

@gabbe we can make the hometree wide enough so they can walk out of it
i'll mock up a test campaig using magic as Na'vi and tech as humans
