I STRONGLY recommend you learn to model. Mods that ask other people to model for them don't usually end up to good or take WAY too long to complete (Dark Magic is the only one, and it's still not complete). The glest guide's modeling tutorial is highly recommended. You can learn the basics to modeling in a day as well as lots of other things, such as GAE coding, full XMLs, etc;

Look at the glest guide at http://glest.110mb.com/

Even modman learned to model near the end of the Dark Magic production (no clue if he made anything for it, but he stated he can do basic modeling).

Omega, I tried your tutorials, and I ended up having to learn modeling on my own, learn texturing on my own, and most of animation on my own.
You need to think like a person who has almost no clue, not a 3D graphics artist. ::) :P

So give me a hand. It's really difficult to think what I'm not.

(I can't figure out my parents at all, nor can I figure out why people do drugs, or why people don't believe in god, or many other things)

Religion debate.......
Where?

If your referring to one of the things Omega doesn't understand(why people don't believe in god), then you are definitely one of those picky picky evolutionists who will attack wherever he can! :P

Sorry, if you were looking for the Evolution debate it's not here.

Deathrun, if you read this please delete these offtopic posts.

Archmage/Omega, please keep your debates in the OT section and not in other peoples faction threads!  ::)

Hey, for one I was stopping the OT(notice my '</OT>', which means I'm counting on someone like you to continue the on-topic discussion ::), not to relay my message again), and two I didn't bring up any debates, that was Gabbe who said that.

Please nobody delete our discussion as the part before Gabbe intervened was in-fact OT(On-Topic), it had a small relation which is good enough. :P

Back on-topic: ::)

I have not seen the avatar movie so I don't have much enthusiasm for this mod, also because of what I saw of Avatar once, a cartoony 2-D show(I know the movie is bound to be better, considering it is 3-D, and my older sister and her boyfriend said it was awesome). I very curious to see what this mod will look like completed, and I may pitch in a model or two(or some animation). ;)

Is there any progress?!? Haven't heard anything for a while. BTW: the point of my last two posts was merely to convince the modder to learn to model, which (IMHO), is the most important thing a modder can learn!

(Slightly) OT: Like arch, I've never seen the movie too, and am not so sure about it, though its supposed to be good so I plan to see it.

My abnormal response: Hahahahahaha, oh thats funny! :D
Anyone who believes in God wouldn't be a dirty ***hole, but if that person was an ***hole, their believe in God would make them a divine ***hole.

My serious response: Typical evolutionist... :P

One last thing: You spelled believer wrong.........

Like Omega I would like to see some more progress! :)
I should see that movie sometime soon...

So is this another one of those "I have an idea but have none of the abilities to make it happen" threads?  There's a reason none of those mods ever get made.  Like somebody said before, at the very least you should learn some basic modeling.  Most of the units can probably use the basic Magitech human model, so if you can make new weapons, tools, and accessories, and then re-texture, it will probably be good enough.  Then of course you'd need to animate.

Basically, if you want this mod to get made, don't expect everyone else to do the work for you.

(PS: This thread needs a cleanup... BADLY!)

I agree with John. Firstly, whoever created the thread (I forgot...) needs to reassess whether or not (s)he has the skills top continue this mod through. If (s)he can, then its thread cleanup time. If not, don't even bother. Unfinished mods and suggestions clutter the board and serve no purpose.

You can't. Only a moderator or the post's creator can do that. However, your best off just leaving it be, otherwise posts that are half OT could be lost.

Yay! Knowing to model will be VITAL for creating a mod, since depending on other's help doesn't generally go to well... If you get it, expect little control, large wait times, etc; Let's face it, coordination is a MESS here. Most people tend to do best on their own.

(Slightly) OT: Like arch, I've never seen the movie too, and am not so sure about it, though its supposed to be good so I plan to see it.

It's "Dances With Wolves" except with blue people, a larger budget, and in IMAX 3D.

By the way - for simple modeling tutorials you should check the blender summer of documentation tutorials here:

This may not be applicable here, but I feel like a lot of bumping was going on around here.  Omega, did you make a rule about too much bumping?  Because if not, you should.

It's been said before, and I'll say it again. It's just dances with wolves on an alien plane with alien references.
