Need help! Blender............
« on: 2 February 2010, 00:13:56 »
I've animated an object, I re-size the object and armature, and I get it the way I like it.
Then when I move off the current frame, Blender undoes my resizing, and if I go back to the frame I was on, it's still the wrong size!

Anybody know what to do?

A?
Dude "A" being 'shift-a' or 'a'?
Or did you mean 's'?

The object is parented to the armature though, when I move the mesh by itself........weird stuff happens....... ???

NO, i mean select the mesh then press the letter "A" (a key on your key board) twice, then press  the letter "S" (also key on your key board) and size it.

I think I know what you're talking about, and basically Blender tends to do weird things when you change anything in object mode.  Use edit mode for all your transformations (moving, scaling, rotating, duplicating, etc) and you can generally avoid them.  Pretty much the only thing I ever do in object mode is add and delete objects.

There is one exception:
If you made a model which is completly done and ready to animate ( model + armature )  and you simply want to resize the model you should do this in object mode!
Select all models and all armatures and resize them all together.

Guys, this is fully modeled, textured, and animated.
Also, I had to use multiple models so Elim I cannot just grab everything, I made one object way to big...

John, thanks!
I'll try re-sizing it in edit-mode.

Edit: It worked!

Resizing it in edit-mode worked, although I had to resize the mesh and then the armature, both in edit-mode.
Thanks John!

Also, it there anyway that I can take an object from one blend and put it in another?
(It has to keep the armature...so no exporting and then importing......)

Export the blend that has the model then import it into the place that has the armature

You can't import/export a .blend. ::)
Both importing and exporting don't get the armature...

I'd like to try appending, but I can't remember what I read, I'll have to read it again.....

File > "Append or Link"... and it's really all self-explanatory from there.  You can append meshes, armatures, cameras, lights, and even actions (but I think you have to append the armature first for that to work).  Appending armatures and actions really comes in handy if you want to re-use the same armature and/or animations for multiple units.

Uhm I meant export the other (human?) that needs a armature to g3d import the g3d where you have the armature. Johns way works but i usually imported the armature into my model with it (idiot me) only the current action was imported. Now that I think of both ways work but johns is more efficient

That's not only John and Hectate's idea, that's the right way to do it. :D

Very creative way though Phoenix...
