First downloaded Glest a year or so ago, had a few solo games and quite enjoyed it (GAE and MEgaPack mainly.) Had a quick look through some of the XML stuff and seemed fairly straight forwards and read about LUA mainly through the GAE forum.
Now one of me favourite pieces of software (Renoise, music tracker/DAW program) has announced it is going to introduce scripting via LUA in its next release. Sony data is already represented/stored as XML. The combination of these made me think back to Glest, even though I have to admit I haven't touched it for a while.
So what would be the best way to go about learning how to use LUA with XML? Mainly wanting to edit the XML data from LUA scripts, so thinking either some kind of Scenario where you can use LUA to change the attributes of the enemy over time, or change which profile is currently in use etc.
Also, does Vanilla Glest have LUA? I had a thought it was only GAE but have just seen MegaGlest and read that also has LUA for things like AI.
