Good idea but I think we need a peice of concept art or at least a theme to work from.

Its easier to model from a good concept art. It is easier to judge which model is best if they are all based on a single concept. After all we are competing modeling skills not imagination skills.

EDIT: I forgot, we're going to need a rough poly count as well to make sure someone is not using twice as many and therefore having a much better looking model. I wud suggest 800 polies is a good Glest amount.

when you draw textures are they one pure  color?
all textures I make now are computer drawn.
The best program to use to do texturing is gimp on linux.
you can render all kinds of cool stuff.
you should try it......

I really don't care about modeling and texturing, my joy is animating!
Don't expect me to model anything, I've got plenty of models that need work. ::) :P

Cool! now it looks like animal and humanoid models are tied. (And should the model get a higher score if the verticy count is low?)

No way man, it doesn't matter how many vertices you use, as long as it runs ok in Glest!
Frames? I'd say 16 max. ;)

Hey how about this:

After the modeling contest, the best model is picked out, and then everyone tries to texture the best model, after all that, you pick the best texture and everybody tries to animate it! ;)

That way those of us who only wish to animate can do so, and also, this is probably a better way of doing it overall.

ok, finish the vote give me an idea, ill draw it good from front view and you guys will have to try to model it. And since this is a competition, my drawing will NOT be a blueprint but a front view of the model, this makes things more interesting and more challenging :)

I also think that three separate ratings should be used so we can have the best modeler, the best texturer, and the best animator.
First everyone(who wants to) submits models through PM to Elim, then everyone give each model ratings, whichever model wins everyone tries to texture, and the person that has the best model is revealed and given some sort of prize!
Then the textures are rated and the best one gets used, and the creator gets rewarded.
Lastly, everyone rigs and animates the model(we'll have to choose what type of animation, I have some ideas.....), and everyone rates the animation and a prize is given out to the best animator!
