In the last case, you can make an insanely long file with a music editor.

Can't give you an answer on your first three questions but, regarding the fourth...
MP3 is a proprietary format with many licensing and patent related issues. The fact you can have a free mp3 does not mean mp3 is free! (and this can get really complex but you can believe what I said is true). Here's a very tiny little taste of it from the Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mp3#Licensing_and_patent_issues
OGG on the other hand is free as in GPL free! (if you don't know what GPL free means, here's an hint: "free beer" is what you get at a pub when the owner shouts "Happy hour!" GPL free means that, if we were talking beer, you could not only drink it for free, but actually rechemister it and distribute a new kind of beer!). OGG on the Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ogg

Glest is GPL released, so it makes a lot more sense to use OGG than MP3. :P

If you really need a music you only have in MP3 format, there are some converters out there.
Now the problem won't actually be converting to OGG, the problem will be converting FROM MP3 (see how MP3 can get a lot messier and a lot less FREE than it looks?).
Still there is software out there that will do it. Depends on your Operating System.
A free MP3 encoder/decoder, rather popular is the LAME coder.
Another one is FFMPEG.
Some software that will use either one of those should get your job done. ;)

EDIT:
Get setup with OGG Vorbis: http://www.vorbis.com/setup/
Some more software related to the OGG format: http://www.vorbis.com/software/

I don't understand, where is that problem?
It must be somehow possible, to make Glest play more than one music files...  :scared:
Unfortunately I don't know much about C++, it's hard for me at the moment, but my free time is unfortunately strongly limited...

[Exuse me, but your post was so anti-english, that even I had problems to understand it... - @kukac@]
