Linux Installer progress
« on: 15 April 2010, 16:27:53 »
Just wanted to pass along an update that Mega-Glest will have a Linux installer soon!

I was able to successfully build an installation using the awesome mojosetup project!

This should make things easier for normal, non technical Linux users!

Cool, but you know, I can do either Linux or Windows installers, how about I do one, and you do the other? :)

Archmage, I have no problem with you or anyone else helping out, thats what open source is all about!

On that note, my main request for work done on mega-glest is that we use "free, opensource" tools. This is why the current Windows installer uses Null Soft Installer as it too is an opensource project. This is why I am looking at mojosetup as it also is an opensource project. The Linux installer is not done yet but the Windows installer is fully working and the script is already in SVN. You can use that or some other open source tool that any of us can use if we need to build the installer ourselves. Just make sure all the needed files find their way into svn or at least the download page on the MG sourceforge page.

Do not checkin new files in SVN without asking Titi or myself first because we would want to make sure they get placed into the right spot!

Thanks

I don't even know how to put stuff in SVN, if anyone wants the Bitrock XML, I'll give it to them.
