Crysis 2 leak didn't work for me, so I have to wait till March 1st for the PC multiplayer demo. And guys, if you want Crysis 2, buy it, Crytek needs and deserves the money.

And im even prouder to be the first on this Forum to announce the first game in years that truly takes advantage of the graphics power a PC can process. No, this isn`t cinematic, this is GAMEPLAY, yes you heard me right, these awesome graphics are gonna be your for the taking, REAL TIME! Sorry to say this to you Archmage, but comparing Crysis 2 footage to Battlefield 3 footage, clearly Battlefield 3 looks way better.

Nah, Crysis 2 is more impressive looking. The animations in BF3 look.... :-X. Whereas in Crysis 2, the animations are smooth n' sexy.

Crysis 2 is ahead in development, and look at crytek site, the ps3 version is going to be equal to highest performing PC version. All the PC version is getting better would be the resolution.

Wereas DICE actually has one version of the game engine for consoles(!!!) and one designed to utilize the new DX11 features to the max for PC. Clearly you must see that here DICE wins 8)

Crysis 2 looks far better. I've been playing it. :P
In fact I probably won't buy BF3 now. To be honest, Killzone 3 looks about 3 times better. :look:

Edit: I played the Arma 2 operation arrowhead demo maxed out, and to be perfectly honest I didn't like it, the gameplay was over-complicated(couldn't keep track of the controls), and the graphics were pretty bad...

I`ll have them both, Killzone 3 sucks arse with shit resolution to be honest..PS3     And BF3 looks as good as the Crysis 2 Beta in demo stage, BF3 is still in Alpha! I`d put my guess you never going to buy it anyways, but i will be playing both and can tell you wich is better ;)

ArmA2:OA is not a game, its a military simulator, and it is actually extremely good doing its job, the graphics maxed out, with mods*, and max render distance, dude we are talking KILOMETRES OF THE MAP that has to be rendered. Simply no competition there.

EDIT:

It's both dude. :P On Crysis if one knows what he's doing he can make the render/LoD distance super far! I modded it back when I had my 4670, and I went from 36 fps to 8.4! XD

Haha. I've already played Crysis 2 for hours. Better graphics than Arma 2, better than CoD(it does have good graphics admit it or not). Killzone 3 has pre-rendered water!  :O I mean we're talkin Crysis 2 on DX9 with only 3 graphics options(bound to change in the release). You have to admit dude, it pwns already on the crappiest settings. XD

Good luck beating the standard 200Km map, then you can go ahead and ad infinitum terrain generator :)

Me to, but i get internet lags like.....ffffffffffFFFFFUuUUUUUUU! 50kb rotten modem ftw..Crysis 2 won`t have DX11 on launch. It will only have DX9. SO im kind of worried if they are going to polish the tesselation feature at all... :look: Muhahahh, i already hear the console kids whine about why they not getting a demo, and then on release they will have such massive group whine festival about how crap their resolution will be.

Dude what the hell? Seriously, have a close look at the video, or look here IGN showing you..:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WqZ-XWXak3M

If you know FIFA and EA sports games in general they have a INCREDIBLE ADVANCED ANIMATION SYSTEM, And since DICE is a internal EA studio, they get all the technology from all of EAs games. Animation is actually one of the things BF3 is going to be vastly superior to any other games. The only thing i feel is wrong with BF3 in this alpha stage is reloading and aiming.

Also the campaign will be Co-Op (hint hint please buy arch plzz) You can see in the previous video, wrong part of time i think it was called. :)

Animation System: That's nice, but really Crytek beat them to it. :P Notice the reload animation, enh, not so good. Sprinting looks pretty good, but not as good as COD:MW2 or Crysis 2. :| BF3's first-person cutscenes are pretty good, but MW2 and Crysis 2 are still tops. Having a nice animation system doesn't automatically give BF3 A+. Same with Crysis 1. Shall we talk about Assassin's Creed? :P

Destructible Environments: BF3 pulls ahead, they really focus a lot on this. Crysis 2 has limited destructible environments, not quite as good as this.

Lighting: BF3 lighting looks really good, and feels almost real, but the CryEngine still sits on top for being more than real.

1-Crysis 2
2-MW3
3-BF3
4-Assassin's Creed Botherhood
5-Team Fortress 2

So I'll probably get it. :P

Edit: Checked out more footage, updated my thoughts...

Brother hood isn`t out for computer, and i will never ever give my money to a company that ports from a console to pc! NEVARHHH EVAHHHR! >:( (But my little brother is getting it for his so...maybe? :P )

It is by the way unknown if a MW3 is on the way, the site saying that they were going to make MW3 is denied by activision, and the site says it was a joke + activision sues the makers of the site. Most people now think that is because activision wants to drag away publicity from the other companies now releasing major titles.

BTW; You know if Crysis 2 is going to have nVidia 3d technology? Hopes, atleast nVidia sponsors them, so there is hope! :D

EDIT: You know xBox360 demo is the exact same as PC = Proof Crytek has become another consoleporter

Code: [Select]

Were DICE sees one big map, IW and Treyarch sees 20.

Quote
BF3's first-person cutscenes are pretty good, but MW2 and Crysis 2 are still tops.

Lemme tell you, there was almost no cinematics in there, gameplay only :) The soldier that got shot by a sniper? Real-Time rendered, no pre-made animation. The animation when the soldier opened the door? Say hello to FIFA animation system ;) This will feature also in multiplayer.

In BF3, when a teammate (among the 64!!) players damaged, you as a medic will be able to drag him into safety and safely heal him up with bandage and stuff without getting shot at, something no game i have seen has done yet. You will be able to mount your gun to almost any part of the terrain, this means that you will be proning down and actually mount your two-foot sniper to the ground before shooting, increasing accuracy.

INFINITY WARD ADMITS MODERN WARFARE 3 IS LESS ADVANCED THAN BATTLEFIELD 3!

http://www.cinemablend.com/games/Infinity-Ward-Admits-Modern-Warfare-3-Less-Technical-Than-Battlefield-3-30432.html

he admits that building a new engine for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 would be "counter productive", after he was asked about MW3 using any new tech after the internet nearly exploded from the Battlefield 3 gameplay footage.

I guess innovation finding its way into the biggest selling franchise in the world of interactive entertainment would just be financially blasphemous for Activision, eh?

MORE EDIT:

and for the demo of crysis 2 was like CTRL + C, CTRL + V STRAIGHT from the console version (Press START to begin , aim assist, adjust TV settings for brightness settings to name a few ..) PLUS it is mentioned that the full game is released in DX9, then get a DX11 patch later after launch (http://www.hexus.net/content/item.php?item=29330).

Quote
The eagerly-anticipated game will ship with an underlying DX9 API on March 25, with the DX11 patch coming a while later, and it'll run just fine on a quality laptop.

Stop bullshitting us CryTek..

I mean, Crytek is dumbing the game down for it to fit on a Xbox 360. We are talking a computer from 2005..While DICe actually makes one version for PC and one version for Consoles! And atleast they put the effort to create DX11 at first and not patching it in because the engine doesn`t yet support it. Also, Crysis 2 is in DEMO stage. BF3 is in pre-Alpha stage, and still they look equal, so i think DICE will steamroll Crysis 2, straight forward, just looking here and remember, pre-alpha:

MORE AND MORE DIT:

FYI this is a cod map on BF2:

Code: [Select]

while this is a BF2 map:

says quite a huge lot about how the BF series have been THE BEST for a LONG LONG time, i mean, the IW 4 engine can`t handle such great maps, and ok it can`t handle such maps, but WTF there only 18 players MAXIMUM? BF2 from 05' can handle 211 Players And still maintain these beautifull graphics:

Have you guys seen a new game called oil rush.  Apparently they are accepting pre-orders and it seems that 90% of the initial pre-orders were from GNU/Linux gamers.

Gameplay
Quote
OilRush is a real-time strategy game based on group control. It offers mechanics of a classical RTS combined with a Tower Wars genre: control the upgrade of production platforms as well as their defence forces, and send battle groups of naval and air units to capture enemy platforms and oil rigs.

Looks cool, though i don`t like unrealistic settings such as oil platform countries it is a good idea around TD.

Its nice to see an RTS that focuses on naval warfare. In lots of games navy are usually added on and underdeveloped compared to ground units. I almost want to make a navy only mod for GAE! Graphics look great! I wish Glest could look like this one day :P

This isn't a game but a game engine.  I know titi started development on jGlest with JMonkeyEngine and they have released their alpha 3 engine which includes an awesome SDK.  Check it out with the video below.

Crysis 2 is coming soon, unfortunately for crytek/Electronic arts the full version of the game have already been released. Very unfortunately that because that would imply that pirates get games faster than those actually paying for them.

Late reply: Relatedly, Glest could use one of many free open source engines for things like water. In particular, OGRE is free and open source, under the MIT license (which is GPL compatible and quite simple and open). Mind you, OGRE would add a fair size to an executable, but the ability to render the desired MD5 models as well as support for DDS textures would save the developers work of implimenting that, and more importantly (to me) we could get some realistic looking water (that's Glest's weakest point really) as well as improve the shadows. OGRE is amazingly powerful, and very fun to tinker around with.

I would recommend you all take a look at some of its examples and tutorials to see just how powerful and easy to use it is! Of course, Glest itself is its own engine, and it may be undesirable to use 2 different graphical engines, but the effects could be amazing.

I've heard of ogre 3d before and in fact jMonkeyEngine is able to import the OGRE 3d file format.  Do you happen to know what are the advantages of using ogre over jME?  Looks like they are both scene graph based rendering engines.  jME is java, ogre is c++ right?
