New tileset objects

Very soon we will release some new tileset objects for Glest. In the image you can see some of these new objects:

Those are some of the best looking low poly trees I have ever seen. Will the mage in the cage move? (wave his arms around and such) Poor Martino........  :wicked:

No, the actual trees will share the maps with the new trees; because the actual trees have 20 polys and the new trees 120 polys, for this reason in the maps musn't be too many of this new trees.

We have some new maps with this new objects and maybe implement this objects in the actual maps

having cavalry units with bows and swords too would probably pull the balance too much in favour of the Tech faction. (or so I think)

Yes, the magic faction will have one unit for balance the horseman tech unit, but won't be a wolf rider like warcraft or the lord of the rings, will be a unit a bit more original  ;)

It will take still some time because Tucho hasn´t finished yet, and we still have to add sounds, icons and maps... let´s say a month and a half, though we don´t know for sure. Before someone ask, this expansion won´t add functionality to the game, it will consist in a set of units and tileset objects that Tucho thought the game was really missing, like these horsemen.

For the magic faction, I thinked of an Unicorn as a Horse unit...

Is it a good idea? :|

And if it will be an expansion, it won't be in a new version of Glest? :'(

And who's head is on the Horseman now? :p

In fact tucho was thinking on a centaur... (but martin-o and I don´t like that much that each faction have the same kind of units).

The expansion will be part of the new version of Glest, along with the work martin-o is doing on the code. But since we think we´ll finish the tilesets, units and maps somewhat sooner, we´d still like to release it before as a separate update.

The horseman... I think it´s the same tucho, but maybe we´ll put Felix´s head to it. (Felix will work improving the animations done so far and the ones that belong to the expansion, then he´ll make the 3D models for the new factions we make... when and if we make more, that is :P).

ahh, i see. it would be cool if you could break up the 2 factions into 4 factions. I was planing on making a mod like this, but id rather help you guys do it since i am just learning 3ds.

anyways, it would be nice to make the tech faction into 2 factions. A Feudal faction that has good military units and such, and a machine faction that builds things like those battle machines and mabie something cool like airships and stuff.

the magic faction can be split into a magic faction, and an anarchy faction. both would have magic units, but you can give the anarchy faction that one baserker you have in the tutorial, and mabie that one goblin unit, and the dragon.

4 factions would add alot of depth into the game. if you cant do the models due to time, i would love to help, but i would need to learn 1st from one of you. i got 3dsmax 7 and a really really fast computer and good internet.

right now, im working with some friends to try and see if we can make a multiplayer option. if we get it working, ill be sure to post here.

To modify the factions in the game, you have only to search the units repertories in the repertory of the game, then replace it where you want ;)

We think two factions with more units is best than more factions with few units, but if you want make a entire faction, we will be delighted to put your faction in aditional downloads for the rest of community can enjoy with it  :)

This expansion would be REALLY useful, because before that the game didn't look really finished. There was not really a lot of units in the game..... But something really useful could be WATER UNITS!!![/b] The maps like "Islands" could look more realistic with this type of units  ;)

Eh I didn't think it through well enough.
I pegasus rider I meant. Swordswoman (thats what they typically are I thought?)

I understand how a unicorn could attack though.

The pictures of these new units look AWESOME! I cant wait to try!!!

One of my games friend told me about a multiplayer FPS called "Savage" where you can use a giant unit as this as a Siege Weapon :P
