Precisely, Megaglest is an extension of the normal Glest - it supports more features.

The following thread should hold up to date information on all changes made from Megaglest 3.2.3 (first release) since Glest 3.2.2 (note: Megaglest is not developped by the original Glest team! :look: ):
https://forum.megaglest.org/index.php?topic=4930.0

You might also want to check GAE (Glest Advanced Engine) which has been developped for much longer (actually before the original Glest 3.2.2 was out). The number of new features is immense and you might not get an up to date list of them anywhere. :(
But I guess this post will give you most everything:

Is it true that glest is no longer developed?

Yes, I am quite sure it is not, or the mega-glest people would have helped them instead of making mega-glest.

Well, Elim, the megaglest people could have helped the gae team instead... :P

Anyways, I remember Titi said, I dunno, like a year ago or something, Martiño had said the original Glest Team would not further develop Glest so...

Still, Glest is GPL'd software, which means anyone can change it and publish their changed engine (under a different name). That's how both GAE and MG came about. And they're both being activelly developped. ;)

The Glest team stopped developing the original game at 3.2.2. This is the build found at the big download sites like CNET.

Everything else is a modified version of the original.

GAE is an unofficial mod.
MegaGlest is an unofficial mod.

Some of us have 5+ different builds of Glest - for various reasons. I hate having multiple versions of the same game.

Glest 2.0 to Glest 3.2.2 to MegaGlest V3.3.4.2? and GAE 3.2.2b ?

Codeheads love this sort of crap - users like me?

HATE IT.

Well at CNET they have glest 3.1 which has the two networking issues...  ::)
I used to have 10+ versions of megaglest, took me like two hours to uninstall and  delete the old ones...
I think I have 5 versions of glest, MG, and GAE...  ::)

MG and GAE is based on glest...MG has a ton of new features, and now a "simple/or not" masterserver...ish
and GAE has a ton of other features too...  ::)
