They did use observation balloon later on, the grenades they used in those times were metal balls with a fuse in it, the guy lit the fuse and threw the grenade, really simple, and rockets would be of the old fashioned chinese, firework rocket style, the national anthem of the USA was written in the early 19th century and a part of it goes "and the rockets". you could make a stockade wall, a cannon fort, a suicide balloon which was unoperated by a crew but was to be released over the english channel with a timer that at the moment the fleet of balloons was above the french fleet, they would explode and launch rockets at their foe. You could have iroquois allies if your mod includes the wars of colonization, and members of Rogers Raiders, a band of guerrilla fighters that fought for the British in the American Revolutionary war. there could also be guys armed with blunderbusses and the artillery could shoot normal cannon shells or grapeshot, and could be upgraded with heated shot. Their could be sappers that build the fortifications and mines, tons of explosives placed under the ground and detonated by fuse to create a crater and massive damage to the enemy. A light cannon for quick infantry transportation. A worker with a wagon to carry more supplies, cuirassiers, mortars for anti building attack. Oh and an ranged horseman with pistols or a carbine. I might come up with more ideas and I'll post when I do ;D ;D ;D

No this is the British and the colonists sort of, and if I wanted colonists I could use my Canada tech.

So, any more ideas?

I forget what it's called but the guys that have a pike that they use to signal troops to fire, a bombard as a super anti building weapon, possibly an Ironclad sailing ship, the brits had those in the crimean war (1830's) though they never fought other ships. A sniper and a Hessian mercenary could work, foreign troops, a scout on foot.
I'll see if I get any more ideas

So far the tech tree has:

Fort
Camp
Farm_house
Powder_house
Lookout_tower
Mortar
------------------
Saber_man
infantry_man
Cavalry
Colonist
Cannon
Grenadier

I need to think of a unit for the more advanced army, like the technodrome in tech.

Why so limited, plus its infantry, not infintry. Sabremen were not used in the 18th century

Advanced base could be where advanced units are produced since the more experienced units were frequently defending borders

what about experimental buildings? to produce units which still were in the experimental stage when the british empire ruled?

Like the puckle gun and the suicide balloon, both worked but neither was considered good enough for service.

Yes, but can any one think of a name for the advanced building?

@ Gabbe I am going to make all my own models.

Two advanced buildings for infantry and artillery.

Artillery foundry and Arsenal

Culverin anyone?
Petard [suicide bomber]
Horse artillery [faster than normal artillery]
Fusilier [kinda like musketeer]
Gatling gun [the machine gun of that time, unprecise but when close target it was deadly]
Field hospital [heals units close by]
Longbow man [ the british still used them during the colonial times]
Falconet [long range artillery]
Manor house [costs wood, gives 1/3 gold of cost wood]
Hussar [standard cavalry]
Bank [produces gold slowly but always]
Envoy [unarmed scout, costs very little]
Ruyter [very good cavalry, uses guns]
Skirmisher [low HP, High attack/death rate]
Plantation [ slower coin resource than bank, costs less]
Mortar [slow heavy artillery]
Church [medium upgrades and trains priests]
Priest [ Heals nearby units (HP and MP)
Helbardier [efficient close range melee infantry]
Saloon [trains petards]
Heavy cannon [faster than mortar but lower hit, slower than falconet but higher hit]
Crossbow Man [weak unit, emergency solution]
Cuirassier [Good for raiding other factions workers, fast and violent]
Dragoon [infantry, heavy musket attack, high HP costs alot]

Maybe I will use "Artillery foundry". I want something original and British.

@ Gabbe that sounds more western I will use some stuff from that though, but this tech is focusing on the British army mostly.

the petard was a heavy cannon thing its only a suicide bomber in AOE the horse artillery should be normal artillery that deploys when stopped, I don't think musketeers were used in the 18th to 19th centuries, the gatling gun was invented rather late, thats why I suggested the puckle gun which was invented sooner then the gatling gun by 150 years, I agree with the field hospital, I think the falconet was a light infantry dragged cannon with medium range would not have to deploy to fire, the longbow and crossbow were out of service in the 18th to 19th century period this seems to be in, the hussar is light cavalry but is a cooler name, don't know about the bank, envoy's a good idea but the dumb ai might send them to attack or make hordes of them for nothing, the ruyter sounds ok, skirmisher sounds good but thats kind of what Rogers rangers were, guerilla fighters, mortar, sounds good, I don't think there should be the church priest or halberdier as the church and priest were not used in warfare and the halberdiers old fashioned, the heavy cannon sounds great, it could have a requirement that it has to morph to deployed mod to shoot, cuirrasier could be medium fast cavalry, but a lancer could be included and could be faster and have lighter armor, the dragoon sounds great it could have a sabre for melee though, there could be a bombard as an improved even heavier mortar
