server needed?

dear megaglest designers, I'm working on a server, which could offcourse also host glest games, if u need one to please tell me how I can make it host games...

having several servers is only good right? so more games could be hosted?

but u should tell me, do glest servers use linux or windoze?

Currently the servers are just a meeting place to connect internet games. The servers are not being written (at this time) to do anything other than list games available to play at a given moment in time. The server computer still needs to open the glest port # on their firewall / router (default port 61357) and clients still need to be able to see the server. The master server (as it is written right now) is a few simple PHP scripts running on a simple MySQL database. This means the masterserver can run on almost any operating system as long as it runs PHP and MySQL.

So the servers doesn`t need a good connection as long as it is stable?

With the purpose of the master server as it currently works, yes, the connection does not have to be great.. just average and able to handle as many game startups as the community can throw at it.

then im sure almost the entire community can participate? Like im in Norway and therefore people living close to Norway or in Norway could rather join my server and people close to Germany and in Germany could join a German server?

A good idea in priniciple but the community is simply too small for localized servers ATM.

maybe ur right but when u integrate things like tesselation, evryon will play glest im sure
