Well, it could be a firewall or router problem for either you or your friend...  ::)
Um, the easiest and best way to multiplayer is to use megaglest, as it now has a "masterserver"...
So it is easy, like a lobby...  ::)
http://sourceforge.net/projects/megaglest/files/
After that...well post again, just so "we" know if you are going to...  ::)
Good Luck.

It will be helpful to know what operating system you and your friend are running, as well as what version of Glest each of you are running.

We figured it out we had the wrong server adress  how do you find out the adress? we only found out by installing glest on a different computer and tried that number and it worked  if you could let me know how to find the number out that would be great thanks

The answer is not too easy. If you are both on the same home network (in your house) then we call that LAN (Local Area Network) and you may get your IP Address:

in Windows, open a "command prompt" and type:

ipconfig

The line with the words:

IP Address: xxxx

contains you IP Address (for each computer that you run it on)

For Internet Games, its best to use Mega-Glest since it offers master server support (which helps people find each other to play internet games)

Yes, get megaglest...once the next version comes out and is fully stable...  ::)
Easier, since there is like a lobby...
