Hi

Using my 1.5G Dell Inspiron 2200 laptop with 128M integrated Intel graphics card and 1G of RAM, I took this screenshot of the specs I get when I hit "shift"+"?"...

http://www.anxiety-zone.org/specs.png

NOTE: (Some of these numbers change as game-play is ongoing)

I will try to get onto IRC later but the last few days have been very busy and hectic for me so not sure when or what time I'll be on or if I'll even be able to get on :) .

So your RenderFPS was 6 there. Mine goes down as low as 2 if there are many units in the game (whether or not they are visible to me).

well if you press shift + ...and you get that, well...hmm...I think it is the specs...
Lowest for me is 4. FPS.

Just tried 3.3.5.1 alpha out of the box with no changes to the settings and it's still very laggy/choppy on my 1.5G Dell laptop w 1G of RAM and 128M Intel graphics card. I tried several combinations of maps, etc.

I think it really is just your "specs" of your computer... I have a similar one and I am pretty sure it would just have as a...well it would be really choppy, or laggy.  :|
The update did help though, at least a few better FPS...for others.

I agree with you. Probably just the specs. However, the original Glest runs just fine so the only thing I can think of is that some PC's are just unable to handle the new particle system in MG. I wonder if there is some way of turning this off and if it would make a difference or maybe it's needed to play the game?.

Well...are you sure it is the particles?  :| err... I suppose... maybe.
I think there is a difference between Glest and MG. Some coding...difference...which...requires more of a computer I guess.
Hmm...

With all of our testing we get nearly same FPS with alpha1 as regular glest. You may turn off particles on the options screen (set Use Particles to No).

Did you set video res and bit depth and shadows to the same as what you have in vanilla glest?

Thanks

Been preoccupied for awhile so I haven't been on. Those are some good suggestions SoftCoder. I will try them when I get a chance.
