I think it really is just your "specs" of your computer... I have a similar one and I am pretty sure it would just have as a...well it would be really choppy, or laggy. The update did help though, at least a few better FPS...for others.

Probably just the specs. However, the original Glest runs just fine so the only thing I can think of is that some PC's are just unable to handle the new particle system in MG. I wonder if there is some way of turning this off and if it would make a difference or maybe it's needed to play the game?.- Regards, GreyMist
With all of our testing we get nearly same FPS with alpha1 as regular glest. You may turn off particles on the options screen (set Use Particles to No).Did you set video res and bit depth and shadows to the same as what you have in vanilla glest?Thanks
