Hmm Gabbe that is just a bit ironic.  :| Maybe not?

Oh well, if you can't understand some how, and this is just for "fun", so you don't really need to take it anyways.
You took the other one where we didn't even really understand...and you got the score. Everything is fine then...  :|

How do you explain, what you have to do without language?

You don`t have to have a language to see this pattern right?

And what about the "which number is the next" and "which number don't pass" questions?

Er, dumb? You do know how IQ is measured, right?

100 is average, I believe the highest ever recorded was about 230 or so, though tests are claimed as "innaccurate" over 145. However, there are apparently a wide number of different IQ tests, of which "high" varies. Its considered better to rank yourself as a percentile, which is done based on the country, however, there's still the problem that I doubt any free IQ test is truly accurate. Usually it costs a small fee to take a legimate IQ test.

Interestingly, IQ really doesn't mean much. I don't consider IQ to mean really anything at all. I go more by knowledge, rather than IQ, which is based more on speed of which they can answer questions (mental agility). I'm sure most of you would feel the same way.

While we're on the topic, what is your opinions of those so called "high IQ clubs"? I consider them pointless, since as I previously stated, IQ tests are not completely accurate, and only measure the "speed" of your thinking, not how much you know, etc; It wouldn't surprise me if some of the smartest people in the world have lower IQ scores. And that would make sense to me too, since surely the smartest people could take the time to double check all their answers, and ensure they are correct and even search for alternative solutions.
I agree with these statements.

Yes there is. Maybe not in norway or something, but in most official english tests, there is plenty of both words and numbers.

Its common to see questions that ask about things like what number doesn't belong, mathmatical statements, word problems, etc; They don't ask questions about things that need an answer which would require knowledge (ie: a history question), since this is not a test about how much you know, but how fast you can think. The questions are often not too hard, based on things you should already know, and mathmatics and patterns make up most of that.

nvm 2 of the 40 "questions" required numbers knowledge :)

How can it be about how fast you can think when there was no time limit?

If I knew that I would've gone faster, but I took my time because I thought I had all day!  :|

That's not an intelligence test, that a race.

Well, the IQ tests depend on two main things: time and answers. If you just guessed answers, you may have a good time, but you'd still fail because the answers would have too many errors. The answers give a big penalty, because they expect you to be able to answer all the questions correctly (in optimal conditions). Basically, its a balance of correct answers and fast time. Of course, IQ tests are not tests of knowledge, so do *not* depend on them to guess how smart people are. In fact, they would be useless for that. I know some people who had decent IQ test scores, but throw them a history test and they'll hit rock bottom. Likewise, there are people who are know almost everything, yet cannot score well on the IQ test. Don't sweat how you do here. And of course, remember this is a free test, and probably not the most accurate.

You can surely see the difference between one with 140 and one with 80... i think 70-80 is simple minded and 140+ is genius...

I think IQ's are extremely inaccurate.

Some questions may have to do with things a person is not good at. A smart person may make a mistake. The questions may be poorly designed, resulting in possible multiple answers, or no answer at all. The person might not know they are being timed. There are a lot of problems, and accounting for them all, IQ doesn't really work very well...... :|

I got IQ 140 means that I can have 125 or 155 because it is some standard thing that it can only be mesured between a ratio of 15 or something...
Mensa IQ tests are optimized for this, they are somewhat accurate, it is a good way of measure intelligence, not knowledge. Like omega got 144 i think, then it means he can think very fast, AKA aquire knowledge faster :)

Indeed! Good article john! It's also one of those sites that you can read forever (the wikipedia effect) since you'll be stuck clicking the links for hours! Do be careful redirecting us to such sites, lest we lose track of time and forget to sleep/eat/live. :O
