"360° Guarding"
« on: 2 August 2010, 02:45:17 »
Hmm, not sure...Well most factions have the training field upgrade right? So for units to hold position...
Well some don't and some do. Should they?
For example, magic doesn't, tech does, norsemen used to have it, persian does not have it, indian has it, egypt not sure, etc. Basically it is 50/50. But I kinda think it should either all have it, all not. I'd rather have it...

(Splitting this from the FDC thread. --JDH)
Hmm...OK. --ultifd

I think training field should be necessary for all but many factions units should not be able to hold ground because of their agresivness or bad organization, for example norsemen or indians shouldn't be able to hold ground :|

Yes, technically it should. Sometimes it just might not fit in though, but it still should...

Huh?  :|  I mean maybe, but...aggressiveness or bad organization? I don't really see it in norsemen or indians. Just powerful/more powerful then others/too powerful, etc.

Yes, this is general and about factions. We don't need to spam this forum with threads that don't need to be made...even if it has already happened.

They can, but that is  kinda bad. It shouldn't be 'random' like that. Why do some have it and some don't? Etc.
It is also related to balancing. ...

speaking of hold position, i think that it should mean that the units should attack enemies near them, but then return to where they were before.

im so tired of my guys running off when they attack guys. they shouldnt be totally immobile, but defend a small area around them (like to their sight range). this means that melee guys would attack even when in this state.

I know what you mean, but isn't that like the "guard" feature (kinda similar) in GAE?...So technically you kinda have that already...sorta. Guard but in 360 degrees around the guarded area...lol
I think hold position is what it...is.

Isn't it patrol? he walks back and forth attacking any enemy.

Hmm, not sure...it has been a long time...since I tired it/tried GAE.

Anyways it is either patrol or guard, whatever. It is just still in a straight line...

saying that "guard" is the 360 degree one, i would find it more useful than just "hold position"

No, guard isn't. My suggestion was adding to your idea, and I was also joking around a bit.
Of course it is more useful. I don't think it will be implemented to MG or GAE anytime soon though. Things are kinda busy. But, nice idea.   For later, it would be awesome.
