Huh? What do you want?

Always use the package manager of your distribution, for Ubuntu the gui program is called Synaptic if i remember correctly. Most stuff is in the repositories. Just pick what you want in this program and it will download and install it for you. It will also keep every package up-to-date.

Do not just randomly download stuff from the internet! This is not windows! Especially if you're new to linux use the package manager.

I'm not using ubuntu, so don't expect step-by-step instructions. Look for java and flash in your package manager and install it. Read the description of the package beforehand to choose the right one.

Synaptic is the program you are looking for. Its the package manager of ubuntu. there you can search and install software!
Its in "system administration" .

But java/flashplayer? When I asume you wanted to use it in the browser didn't ubuntu simply ask you if you want to install when you tried something like this the first time? you just have to press yes and enter your password.
