I've just read this entire thread from start to finish. Now, I don't really have much of a say-so in this matter, since I'm fairly new.
I do have one solution (possible) that might work for everyone here, members and staff alike.
The truth is, I have this forum that I'm trying to get off the ground. It's theme is primarily Science Fiction and Fantasy Fiction. It's a .webs site, yes, but I've been working hard to make it fun-ish. There's an arcade, I can always add more games to. Plenty of sections for said forum to peruse. Also, I have an Off-Topic section.
The latter isn't moderated (much) nor is it active. Heck, my entire forum isn't active. The few members there aren't doing anything, i've got one moderator (former friend, soon to be deleted). So, I have zero staff, I'm running it solo (not that I mind much, given lack of members)
So, this is my solution: Everyone here that wants to have Off-Topic discussions, can head to my forum for that. In fact, if it's alright with the Glest staff, I'll gladly make a section purely for Glest-only members to discuss non-Glest stuff.
Sorry to dual post, but it seems I ran out of room.
Anyways, I'll just let you all decide if this is an appropriate accord.
Look at it this way:
Glest forum won't be clogged or cluttered with, what some deem 'useless' posts.
Also, I can gain a possible influx in members at my spot. I do not at all wish to seem like this is being done for my own gains. I'm a people person (in a way) and I'm always looking for problem solvers.
Do we have a deal?
Edit by Omega: Merged double post. The text box will automatically spout a scrollbar when it "runs out of room". Only actual limitation on the message is the 50k character count limit.
