Please rearrange elements in 'Custom Game' menu
« on: 5 September 2010, 11:06:30 »
Since we have this very nice option of filtering maps by # of players now, it may make more sense to rearrange the UI elements on the 'Custom Game' menu screen.
I suggest to move the map filter to the very top left position, followed by the map, tileset and tech tree options (on the same row). The next rows would be the player slots, followed by advanced options (if active).

This image should explain it much better:

atibox: Ryzen 1800X (8 cores @3.6GHz), 32 GB RAM, MSI Radeon RX 580 Gaming X 8G, PCI subsystem ID [1462:3417], (Radeon RX 580 chipset, POLARIS10) @3440x1440; latest stable Ubuntu release, (open source) radeon (amdgpu) / mesa video driver
atibox (old): Core2Quad Q9400 (4 cores @2.66GHz), 8 GB RAM, XFX HD-467X-DDF2, PCI subsystem ID [1682:2931], (Radeon HD 4670, RV730 XT) @1680x1050; latest stable Ubuntu release, (open source) radeon / mesa video driver
notebook: HP envy13d020ng

Hmm, never thought of this, but now that I think of it that would be better...a lot.
So I second this.

I agree. After all, maps can have limited number of players, so if we set up 8 players, then choose a different map, we lose those players. Basically, since the map controls what players can be used, it's a good idea to have it chosen first. Also, the techtree should be chosen first because it directly applies to the player's factions.

And to be honest, I see no disadvantages.

Now that I think about it, I'm kinda neutral on this. I'm ok with how it is now, and ok if it is changed...probably. We'll see...in the end. But, when the setup menu gets its future revamp (that I am pretty sure it will get for some reasons)  , then maybe we can think about changing the elements... we'll see.

IDK about the map filter, but I like the other stuff the way it is. (And the map preview looks bad there!)

i agree with ElimiNator i do'nt know if i like it up there but i also might like it up there but i would think that the map preview would look better on the bottom not another picture on the top.
