Update = 40 and render = 4 with the 3.3.7-beta2, with an untouched *.ini.

4fps render? :o  You really have an installed  driver? Which OS which gfx card is this?

( if you choose very moderate settings 800x600 no 3dtextures ... what do you get then)

Titi, John needs to repost, I helped him fix his performance problems last night (using old deps packaged with 3.3.6 causing bad performance)

I still think the average FPS I get is more around 20 something, which is good/ok for integrated...:-/
Probably 24/25/26.

No, that's after I fixed everything.  Before, it was less than 1fps.  I re-ran the benchmark and got the same result, 40 and 4.  In the menu, I'm getting around 15 to 20, but it drops down to about 6 in the New Game menu.  It's about the same whether I use the regular *.ini settings or reduce to 800x600 resolution.  It's not fast by any means, but it's easily playable.  If I could get PhysFS to work, I could try the benchmark in GAE and compare, but in regular play I get about 6 or 7 render fps with GAE and about 18 update fps.

Output of lspci:
http://pastebin.com/cEy3T7MD

I'm running Linux Mint 9 (Isadora) 32-bit, with an Intel Core-2 Duo T5550 @ 1.83GHz each.  2GiB of RAM.

Just sitting in the menu, I'm using 50-60% of each CPU and 299.5MiB of RAM.  When running the benchmark, my CPU usage goes up to about 70% for each core and I'm using about 500MiB of RAM.

Edit: Tested it after turning off Compiz.  Exactly the same results, 40 and 4.

Hmm, your GPU, an Intel GM965/GL960 (AKA Intel GMA X3100) is a bit outdated. 2007, when Intel released a comparison of their chipsets, it was one of their better models, but this may have changed a little already (and then Intel GPUs are not really meant for gaming). I run Ubuntu 10.04 (x86_64), which Mint 9 is based on, and both use the same vanilla kernel, and on my Intel GMA X4500MHD I get slightly better results than you on this benchmark: ~40 Update FPU and ~ 11 Render FPU.

Hmm...I have avg 14 render fps now with SVN Head.  Yay for render improvements... I sometimes get 30ish fps now, which is great for an integrated card.

i do know that _some_ people have integrated cards, while it is nice to be able to game on those they arnt meant
for gaming, again a few of them are, but integrated cards are just not gaming matrial. :).

also, i don see the avg FPS, and the FPS details.

Glest is not one of those games that really requires a nice card. Integrated cards work smoothly, usually.

You are using 3.3.7 beta 2 or a dev version right? or SVN head?

If everything worked alright, you'd get to see them by the end of the game both on screen and in the console output (i.e. consider running the game from cmd.exe, I think it will say something about "integer values" once you exit the game).
