Im writing a text in German for school!
« on: 16 September 2010, 21:46:55 »
SO, im writing a german text for school. i know the grammar isnt good and stuff, but here goes the start i have:

This is written by Gabriel O. Liland and also you are not allowed to copy or use as your german text for school or anything else, you are allowed to quote here in the forum and give response on certain parts of the text.

look forward to updates :)

Hmm try asking titi Gabbe, I think he is very fluent in Deutsch. He could help with grammar etc...
So...after translating it with a translator, it seems a bit interesting...a little bit. What is the word "Gluck"? luck? Or...?
Do you have to write an essay or something? Or just something like a short story?

𝕯𝖊𝖚𝖙𝖘𝖈𝖍𝖊 𝕾𝖕𝖗𝖆𝖈𝖍𝖊, 𝖘𝖈𝖍𝖜𝖊𝖗𝖊 𝕾𝖕𝖗𝖆𝖈𝖍𝖊.

First thing, do you want comments/corrections in english or german?

It's actually Glück. You're missing the umlauts everywhere, probably because you don't have these keys on your keyboard. The correct way to get around the lack of umlauts is to substitute them with the normal vowel and add e, so ue for ü, oe for ö and ae for ä. Just omitting the dots is incorrect.

There are more problems in your text. Whole sentences i don't understand and i'm german. More when you answer the question above.

@ultifd: Guess why! titi is german too.

Oh, so that's why it did not translate...

Yeah, i lack those keys on my keyboard. I want corrections in english to tell me what was wrong in german:

It is not: I sind gleuckelich

It is: Ich bin gleucklich

I did probably something wrong in the grammar there anyways :P

What sentences did you not understand?

Titi is German ;) of course he speaks German fluently :)

When you don't have special characters, use "e" behind the base character:

Ich bin glücklich = Ich bin gluecklich.

As I remember Germans don't use "e" after an another vowel, so it should be alright.

I give you some special chars to copy and paste :P ä Ä ü Ü ß ö Ö

ß = ss

right?
In pronunciation, yes, though you should definitely write all the letters properly. Either learn the alt codes for them (listed below for your convenience) or use the character map.

Alt Codes:
Umlaut (Upper)
Ä

Ë
0203
Ï
0207
Ö

Ü

Ÿ

Umlaut (Lower)
ä
0228
ë
0235
ï
0239
ö
0246
ü
0252
ÿ

Glück lief buchstablich auf ihm,
That looks really strange to me. Grammatically it's correct. But how can luck walk on him? As a Saxon i'm not used to such phrasing. At least i get what you tried to say.

Quote
und er gewann immer im lokalem Wettbewerb. Ihm fehlten jedoch Kameraden,
The corrections are red.

Quote
da er Glück hatte er immer nach oben und niemand wurde das einer solchen Blase werden.
Totally nonsense to me. I can't even imagine what you're trying to say, so i'm not able to tell you what to change. Better rephrase the whole thing.

Quote
Diese Geschichte handelt von einer Zeit, als der Junge so einsam war, dass es als völlig unerträglich empfunden wurde.
It's unbearable for the generality? Really? Maybe just he couldn't bear it anymore...

Quote
Sein Name war Jake aus dem Brot. In der Schule nannten ihn die Anderen Fluss des glücklichen Brotes,
So, they call him river of the lucky bread?

Quote
und er war immer ein Thema zu reden. Er war immer in den verschiedenen Banden willkommen, aber das Problem war, dass er nicht weiss, ob es, weil er reich war, oder weil sie bei ihm sein wollten und ihn als Mensch mochten.
Better break the last sentence up in more sentences. It's a bit confusing.

PS: Geh nicht davon aus, dass ich alle Fehler aus deinem Text fische und meine Korrekturen alle richtig sind. Ich gebe mein Bestes, aber jeder macht mal Fehler. Und Deutsch war nicht gerade mein Lieblingsfach in der Schule. Außerdem sollst du ja die Leistung erbringen... Vielleicht kann noch ein Anderer, des Deutschen mächtig, einen Blick darauf werfen.

Once upon a time there was a very happy boy. He was so lucky that he
could almost be luck itself! However, the boy did lack friends, and
everyone though he was rude and selfish even though he weren`t.
This story is about a time when the boy felt so lonely, that it was
completely unbearable. His name was Jake from the bread. At school,
they called him "Luckybread", and he was always a topic for disguission.
He was always welcome to various gangs of people at the school, but the
problem was not that he wasn`t welcome, but that they maybe didn`t
to be with him as a friend, but after his money!

I think, roufghly translated back, as i did just write in german, and not in english or norwegian.

I know I missed it(sorry for that ) , but here is my translation:

Es war einmal ein glücklicher kleiner Junge. Er war so glücklich, er könnte das Glück selbst sein.
Trotzdem hatte er keine Freunde, weil alle dachten er sei unfreundlich und egoistisch, obwohl er es garnicht war.
Diese Geschichte berichtet über eine Zeit, als der Junge sich so einsam fühlte, dass er es kaum noch aushalten konnte.
Sein Name war Jake ( from the bread ? ) . In der Schule nannten sie ihn "Glücklicher Bread" und es wurde viel über ihn geredet.
Er war immer willkommen bei den verschiedenen Schulgangs und das Problem war auch nicht das er nicht willkommen war, sondern das ihn keiner als wirklichen Freund ansah, sondern alle nur hinter seinem Geld her waren.

I cannot believe that you have to translate such a difficult text at school! Come on tell us, what is/was it good for?

As i understood it, he is writing this text/story, no translation.

I'm a bit confused about his name. Is he called bread as in the meaning of the food? That would be "Brot" in german.

Btw, titi's text misses some commas. It should be easy to add them.

W were supposed to write a text about a glücklich boy/girl :) yes as in the meaning of the food, I dunno because i just needed something to fill in a lot of empty space, ill tell my teacher that Titus, hope he gives us easier tasks next time. BTW this:

Once upon a time there was a very happy boy. He was so lucky that he
could almost be luck itself! However, the boy did lack friends, and
everyone though he was rude and selfish even though he weren`t.

Was translated from first the text in norwegian that were our task, then to the german here
