FPM - the current concept is a bit busted IMO
Military - only one faction, only one maintainer
Malevolent Rising - egregious copyright infringement, huge size, doesn't work for some people
Constellus - still a long way from complete, but has potential
WW1 - I haven't really seen enough of this to comment.

I figure it would be easiest to do a compilation.  Rather than making an all-new tech tree, use the power of open source to combine some of the high-quality factions already made, and then modify/add a few units to take advantage of new GAE features and for balance purposes.  We could have a pretty darn good generic post-Tolkien high fantasy tech tree with very little (new) work.  Gameboy's Elves, Madmanntis' Woodsmen (pending one or two units), Wciow's Dwarves and Undead, modified Tech and Magic -- that's plenty of factions right there, and all are damned high-quality.  Okay, I confess to never having played with the elves, but they looked awesome IIRC.

No offense, but I hate that idea. It would feel like such a patchwork mod. Things that are made to go together are better than lots of things stapled together.

Oh and I'm just putting this out there.... I'm not going to stop working on Constellus until it is the undeniably greatest mod.  :P I'm a little bit of a perfectionist hehe.

I vote for Constellus! 8)
The Constellus alpha I played was fantastic, lacking in some areas of course, but very good.
Egypt Remastered!

The styles are easily as consistent as the Megapack, but all the factions are of significantly higher quality.  Constellus has potential, but if it's only a couple people working on it, then it's kinda hard to put that as the flagship mod.  Same reason I didn't suggest Solunar -- I can't keep up with the engine development, and I won't let anyone help me.  We need something where every talented artist can contribute, so long as their work is of high enough quality and consistent with the style and guidelines that we set.  We'd be able to ship a large, high-quality, and completely finished and playable tech tree much faster my way.  Plus, it would give more exposure to the best factions we have.  What factions have the most exposure now?  Megapack (mediocre) and Vbros (terrible).  The community deserves better than that, and I think it's time we gave it to them.

To clear it up, yes, the votes themselves are not shown until the poll closes. This is simply for one main reason: so you vote as you think, not based on what others voted for.

If things work out the way I'm planning, that will change in the not-too-distant future, when GAE has a full-featured tech tree of its own that will explore all its myriad capabilities.
Hmm...Are you talking about the upcoming Sun and Moon mod?
No, I've been doing some behind-the-scenes planning for what I was talking about here.  It would require some organization, though, as it's not the kind of thing I'd attempt on my own.  I first need to figure out what needs to be done and how best to organize the project, so this is all future tense.

Oh yeah...that idea. In the end a revived FPM would probably be best...or maybe the compilation idea. Problem with that is they would need to be balanced, Woodsmen still needs to be finished, and that they don't really use any of GAE's features yet. One other thing is the "size" problem...or is that problem only for people with bad or slow connections? Military and Malv. Rising should stay as separate packs. Of course, this is all my own opinion(s)...

Gah, I wish we could move posts...instead we have to split the post into a separate topic and then merge that thread...
